PREP 2013 Information Evening

25th June 2012 -7.00pm

NATIONAL BUDDY DAY 2012 National Buddy Day will be held tomorrow,

Friday 1st June, an initiative from The Alannah and Madeline Foundation and NAB. The purpose of the day is to celebrate friendship and to raise awareness of

the issue of bullying, and to also raise funds to support The Alannah and Madeline Foundation’s Better Buddies framework which helps students that are starting school to feel safe, valued and connected to the school community. Students are invited to wear something purple, along with their uniform, whether it be purple socks, headband, hat etc. If students don’t have anything purple from home to wear they will have the opportunity to make something purple at school. Students will also be learning a ‘Buddy Handshake’ to celebrate the day! Look out Friday night– you will be learning the REAL Nilma handshake—shaking all weekend!!

Competitions (TRAINING) This local competition will be held on

Wednesday June 13th—Nilma Darnum against

Buln Buln Primary School. The winner of this

event will then attend the Regional Round

Robin competition held on Friday June 22nd.

Students in Years 4, 5 and 6 can nominate

for participation in these events.

Trials and training will be held at Nilma

Primary School on Monday 4th June after

school—4.00pm to 5.15pm and Tuesday 12th

June at Lardner & District PS from 4.00pm-

5.15pm. Attendance at the first session is

very important.

Students who have been nominated to attend

the Trials are-

Tayla Lochki, Justin Axford, Bailey Kleeven,

Ryan Young, Harrison Perry, Lachlan Crook

and Patrick Smythe.

LUNCHES Students do not have access to the

microwave to heat up lunches. Lunches that need

hot water eg pasta, noodles etc are also not

permitted for safety reasons.

I ran 10 laps around the school to be part of the cross

country. I was tired after the 10 laps. I am happy and

excited to be doing the cross country and competing

On camp we saw Blood on the Southern Cross and it

was amazing. They used real fire and made it look

like it was really raining. My favourite part of camp

was doing all the activities especially billy carts.

Camp was really fun. The best thing I did was

orienteering with Mr. Williams.

The first thing I did at camp was billy cart and bush golf.

We raced the billy carts. I didn’t win but it was

fun because it was bumpy and when I talked it

The best thing about camp was the mines because it was dark and it went

for ever, my torch went out and I nearly knocked myself out. I also liked

On camp we went to Sovereign Hill and we bought things. We saw how

At camp we stayed at Pax Hill Scout Camp, there were lots of activities

there and my favourite was orienteering. We had to find numbers using a

Basketball Clinic @ Nilma with the Latrobe City Energy!!

On Tuesday 29th May, students in grades 3-6 participated in a Basketball Clinic run by the Latrobe City Energy..

PARENT TEACHER DISCUSSIONS The Parent Teacher Discussions will be held in the last week of this term as part of our reporting to parents on student achievement. Information forms are attached to this Newsletter. These forms will need to be returned to school by Wednesday 6th June. The confirmation of times will be sent out after this date. The date for the Parent Teacher discussions is Thursday 28th June between 9.00am and 5.00pm. All children will be required to attend school on this day.

DIVISION CROSS COUNTRY The cross country races will be held a Chairo Christian

School on Tuesday 5th June. Students that have been selected to participate in the

Cross Country are; Justin Axford, Savanna Maunder, Tayla Lochki, Ryan Young, Lachlan Crook, Harrison

Perry and Patrick Smythe.

Active After School Communities

Please remember that students

participating in AFL are able to bring

along a football from home to use during

the sessions if they wish too. Also a

change of clothes might be handy as the

oval is becoming quite muddy!!

Japanese Cultural Exchange trip 2012

Our first meeting is to be held at Darnum School

on Tuesday 26th June at 7.30PM. We would like

ALL families and participating children to attend.

At this meeting we will discuss all details of the
