purpose. b) Any other person using or relying on this survey do so at their own sole risk and peril.

2) This is not a complete survey. a) An in depth full survey, including hidden areas is available at additional cost. A complete structural,

mechanical and electrical inspection was not undertaken. Further deficiencies and or deterioration may be found if the vessel is fully opened up for detailed examination.

b) There are different types of surveys, each one being undertaken for a specific purpose and requiring different degrees of inspection.

c) No verbal representations or discussions, whether made before or after the delivery of the written survey report to the Client, are binding on the Surveyor.

d) No opinion is given regarding hidden or inaccessible areas of the vessel. Deterioration and or original construction faults may exist in such areas.

3) Examinations of all vessels are made in good faith and carried out as thoroughly and as carefully as possible. However, Meadows Marine Surveyors Ltd., its representatives, employees, agents or otherwise, cannot accept liability or responsibility under any circumstances whatsoever, for errors in judgment, inaccuracy, omission, misrepresentation or misstatement, default or negligence in this or any report in the carrying out of any surveys.

The Client agrees to accept a refund of the fees paid as full settlement of any and all claims against the Surveyor or its principals, agents and employees, which may ever arise from the survey and report, and is the maximum amount that may be due for any error or omission in the survey report by the Surveyor.

5) Items listed below were examined during survey and, unless otherwise noted, were found to be in satisfactory condition for their intended purpose.

6) No opinion will be given on inaccessible surfaces of fuel, water or holding tanks and no guarantee of lifespan can be given.

7) Davits were not load tested.

The following standards have been used as guidelines in the conduct of this survey Transport Canada “Small Vessel Regulations, Construction Standards for Small vessels TP1332E” and the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) “Standards and Technical Information Reports For Small Craft”. TP1332E frequently refers to and is in the process of being harmonized with the ABYC standards. Complete compliance with these standards is not determined or guaranteed.

This is a Philip Rhodes designed, 1967 built wooden sailing sloop. The vessel appears to be professional built, using quality materials and good technique.

The vessel was found in good condition for her age. It appears past owners have spent a lot of time maintaining her to a high standard. At the time of the survey a new diesel engine was being installed.

The vessel appears to be structurally sound and once the recommendations have been addressed, the vessel should carry on giving good service.

General Arrangement:

There is a forward private vee berth, with access to the anchor chain locker, port private head and starboard hanging locker. The salon has port and starboard pull out settees and quarter berths, with a center fold up leaf table. The galley area is port and starboard aft. The cockpit has all around bench seating with transom - Lazarette locker.

At the time of the survey a new diesel engine was being installed. Note: Values given above refer to purchase value of the vessel only and do not include taxes or import duties.

These values are estimated and not intended to be absolute. A wide variety of factors may influence values of vessels including the fluctuation of the Canadian dollar compared with the US dollar. Valuation is largely based on historic data and experience with the local boat market. Values may also be derived from consultation with knowledgeable boat brokers, internet research using www.yachtwarld.com to find comparable vessels that are on the market and www.soldboats.com for actual sold prices of comparable vessels.

Surveyor's Notes / Maintenance Items:

The last two aft planks on the rudder are starting to become loose and a small area of wood

decay was noted around the upper stainless steel support band. The rudder should be

inspected at all future haul outs. The rudder will have to be repaired in the future.

It was noted that the shaft log (the wood structure the propeller shaft passes through) is

weeping at both lower corners. The shaft log should be monitored.

It was noted that one of the aft frames (under the engine) is cracked at the turn of the bilge.

This is a common with steam bent frames on vessels of this age. The cracked frame should

be monitored. An opinion of a shipwright could be sought to see if the frame should be

‘sistered’. It was noted the very aft frame has been repaired.

The plywood decking under the third stanchion base from the stern on the starboard side

deck is decayed and the stanchion in loose.

The manual bilge pump (starboard forward engine compartment) does not pump. This bilge

pump should be serviced or renewed.

The RULE 1500 bilge pump discharge hose has a long run (length of the hose) and the hose diameter also drops in size. Both these issues will lower the maximum discharge rate (1500 GPH). It is suggested that plans be made to keep the discharge hose at the large diameter and the through hull discharge point should be closer to the bilge pump.

Slight wood hydrolysis (Alkali Delignification) was noted around the two forward salon keel

bolts (other keel bolts could not be accessed for inspection). Spraying the affected area with

vinegar will help prevent further issues. The affected areas should be monitored.

RECOMMENDATION REPORT

In Connection with the survey of: WHISTLER’S DAUGHTER Made on: April 11 & May 3, 2016 At: Vectors Boat Yard The following recommendations should receive the required attention within 30 days.

A. As recommended by section H33.11.7 of the ABYC diesel fuel standards. Hose used in the

fuel tank fill system shall be secured at each connection, by at least two corrosion resistant

metallic clamps with nominal band width of at least 1/2 inch.

B. As recommended by section H33.15.1 of the ABYC diesel fuel standards. Each metal or

metallic plated component of the fuel fill system that is in contact with the fuel and the fuel

tank shall be grounded so that its resistance to the boat’s ground is less than one ohm.

C. As recommended by section P1.7.1.10.1 of the ABYC installation of exhaust system

standards. Every exhaust hose connections should be secured with at least two non

overlapping hose clamps at each end to produce a secure, liquid and vapor tight joint.

D. As recommended by section E10.7.7 of the ABYC battery installation standards. To prevent

accidental contact of the ungrounded battery connections to ground, each battery shall be

protected so that metallic objects cannot come into contact with the ungrounded battery

terminal. This can be accomplished by covering the ungrounded terminal with rubber

insulating boots or installing the batteries in a covered battery box.

E. The exhaust chimney on the ROVER wood burning cabin heater should be secured (but kept

away for the bulkhead) and each pipe join should be sealed. This cabin heater should only

be used with caution, in well ventilated conditions and should never be left unattended. The

acceptance of this device is left to the discretion of the underwriters.

F. The fire extinguisher should be checked, date tagged and certified in good working condition.

Transport Canada requires two fire extinguishers to be mounted onboard.

G. The required safety equipment as per Transport Canada requirements should be stored

onboard.

H. It appears the engine can also be used as a bilge pump. A shut off valve should be installed in the pick up hose, in a readily accessible location and the valve should also be securely mounted.
