TELFORD DRIVE EDINBURGH

The existing residential units currently back onto an area of overgrown waste ground.

The new housing units and associated landscaping acts as a catalyst for improving the local environment.

The central space is divided into a series of private and semi-private spaces intended to promote ownership of the surroundings whilst allowing social interaction between the residents.

VICTORIA ROAD GLASGOW

The site of the proposed 67 unit development lies at an important point along Victoria Road, one of the main public transport routes from the south side to the city centre.

The design forms a hard, protective masonry screen to the street, formed of textured, hand made brick, stepping down along Victoria Road to give cognisance to the eaves level of the Samaritan Hospital, while the inner faces of the scheme arrayed around a south facing hidden garden are realised in softer, natural timber rainscreen cladding.

GLASGOW HARBOUR

Proposals comprise approximately 770 residential flats above basement parking and ground floor commercial zone on the western edge.

The entire ground floor level forms a horizontal plinth raising flats above the line of the surrounding infrastructure and therefore encouraging interaction with the Clyde waterfront while maintaining important visual links with the city’s West End.

External balconies with a ‘vale’ of glass as an outer skin allows flats to take advantage of the open aspects and spectacular views.

SPECTRUM, LEEDS

This project is for the re-development of a large urban site located in the Eastern Gateway within the Holbeck Urban Village area in Leeds.

The main concept behind the elevation treatment was to derive a solution, which would unify the various parts of the development and create a cohesive, cubic form.

The approach for the external elements includes a formal, civic response to the surrounding road network;
