1. Características ideales:
• Bloquear tensión elevada en cualquier polaridad con flujo de corriente 0 en posición off.• Conducir corrientes elevadas con caída de potencial nula en posición on.• Conmutar de on a off instantáneamente al aplicar la señal de control correspondiente.• Requerir poca potencia de la fuente de control para realizar la conmutación.
2 Diodos
Requerir poca potencia de la fuente de control para realizar la conmutación.
2. Diodos
Tipos
• Diodos de línea: para rectificar la señal de la red, a baja frecuencia. Elevadas tensiones de ruptura y corriente. Lentos al conmutar. Tensión on no muy alta.
• Diodos de conmutación (switching / fast recovery): Alta velocidad de conmutación, normalmente a costa de una mayor R interna (mayor tensión on)mayor R interna (mayor tensión on).
• Diodos Schottky: Unión metal-semiconductor. Tensión on baja, conmutación rápida, tensión de ruptura relativamente baja.

Need for Component Temperature Control 6. Control de T y radiadores
• All components, capacitors, inductors and transformers, and semiconductor devices and circuits have maximum operating temperatures specified by manufacturermanufacturer.
• Component reliability decreases with increasing temperature.Semiconductor failure rate doubles for every 10 ‐ 15 C increase in temperature above 50 C (approx. rule‐of‐thumb).
• High component operating temperatures have undesirable effects on components.Capacitors Magnetic Components SemconductorsCapacitors

Temperature Control Methods 6. Control de T y radiadores
• Control voltages across and current through components via good design practices.
• Snubbers may be required for semiconductor devices.

• Use components designed by manufacturers to maximize heat transfer via convection and radiation from component to ambient.
• Short heat flow paths from interior to component surface and large component surface area.
• Component user has responsibility to properly mount temperature‐critical components on heat sinks.
