Financial Data Warehouse Specification Template

IntroductionRequirements definition and decomposition are the important first steps in any systems development project. This document provides the recommended structure in which the project scope and requirements for financial data warehouse [FDW] and knowledge management development projects are to be defined and documented.

PurposeThe purpose of this document is to a template for a project specification document for financial data warehouse and knowledge management development projects.

Project SummaryThis paragraph is used to introduce the following subsections, which can be used for an executive level overview.

A. Objectives[Provide a concise description of the objectives of the document.]

B. Scope[Briefly describe the scope of the requirements specification.]

C. References[Identify sources of information used to develop this document, such as IEEE or project documentation.]

D. Outstanding Issues[Provide a succinct list of issues or problems which are known to be outstanding with this revision.]

Requirements DefinitionA. Goals[Provide a clear list of the expectations of the new application(s), both in terms of what must be improved and what must be retained from the current processes. All detailed requirements should address one or more of these goals].B. Usability Requirements[Specify the requirements associated with ease of use, query capabilities, report layouts, online help and other interfaces to users and/or supervisors].C. System Security Requirements[Provide details of the security classification of the data handled by the system, special handling required for the data, and the types and levels of protection and control required for user access to the data].D.
