The mission of the administration, faculty, and staff of the Academy is to stand alongside Christian parents, assisting them in the task of reproducing the mind of Christ in the lives of their children.

A thoroughly Christian education is an education that will prepare a child to find his place in the will of God, no matter where that may lead him. Such an education is not meant to isolate the student from the world, but to equip him to boldly engage the world for the cause of Jesus Christ.

The Scriptures plainly teach that parents are not just to be involved, but are responsible for the education of their children. The administration, faculty, and staff of the Academy are eager to assist you in faithfully discharging that responsibility.

An education at Temple Schools is built upon the foundation of the Word of God. We desire to instill in our students a love for the Scriptures as we seek to help them develop a biblical worldview where they apply the truth of the Bible to their own lives. At Temple Schools, our students receive a foundation for life that equips them to find their place in the will of God and the vocation of His choosing. We desire that every Temple graduate has an understanding of the Scriptures and know how to connect their work to God’s work in this world.

The Scriptures plainly teach that parents are responsible for the education of their children. However, there is much we can do as a school to strengthen your hands in this great and eternal task. Our staff and faculty work very hard each day to make Temple Baptist Academy a premier Christian school.

Since beginning in 1971, Temple Baptist Academy has consistently upheld high academic standards, providing an educational program that honors Christ in both content

and quality. In order to verify the quality of our function as an institution, Temple is an accredited, agency-approved member of AdvancEd (SACS CASI) and the Tennessee Association of Christian Schools (TACS), and as such is recognized by the Tennessee State Department of Education.

I encourage you to prayerfully consider enrolling your children at Temple Baptist Academy.

Your children will be challenged, trained, and equipped to fulfill the assignment God has for their lives.

No pastor, principal, or teacher can rightly tell a parent, “If you will enroll your child here, he will

become...” It is a mistake for an educator to make a promise the Christian school cannot keep. The dedicated Christian home is the tool God most desires to use in building young lives.

Temple Baptist Academy is not a production line. We are not manufacturing cars. With God’s help, we are assisting parents in building the lives of their children. Although we cannot guarantee a result, we can guarantee what will go into the education your child receives here.

Your child will be taught to believe that the Bible is the Word of the living God and that every word of the Bible is true (Psalm 119:89).

Your child will be taught that he has been created by God for a unique purpose (Psalm 139:14).

Your child will be taught a worldview that is based on the truth that Jesus Christ is coming again (I Thessalonians 4:16-18).

Your child will be nurtured and encouraged to develop the mind of Christ (Philippians 2:5-8).

Your child will be taught that he has a duty to honor the Lord with his life (I Corinthians 7:23).

Your child will be taught by teachers who are dedicated Christians. (Proverbs 13:20).

Your child will be encouraged to honor and obey his parents (Ephesians 6:1-2).

Your child will be taught that he will meet God someday and will give an account of the abilities and opportunities God has given him (Hebrews 9:27).

At Temple, we not only strive to provide a rigorous academic program that we trust will inspire a lifetime love of learning, but we also have a vision to equip each student to become the person God intends for him to be. Please consider allowing us the opportunity to partner with you in the education of your children.

We can guarantee what will go into the education your child receives here.

WhaT makeS a School chriSTian?

A recent Gallup Poll® reported that 88% of the people in America are religious, meaning that they practice a religion.

This is the highest level recorded in our nation’s history. Yet, 80% of these same people do not believe that Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven.

There has never been a time when the need was greater for Christian schools and Christian education. But what is it that makes a school “Christian?” The Bible warns us in Colossians 2:8, “Beware, lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.”

Notice the last two words in that verse, “after Christ.” We are either “after Christ” or we are not after Christ. The Bible says, “Beware, lest any man spoil you...” The word spoil means “to rob, to steal from, to plunder.”

One of the things that is most heartbreaking in our society is a generation of “cursed children,” as the Bible calls them in II Peter 2:14; cursed because they have been robbed. It is not that their homes or possessions have been stolen. Infinitely more tragic, it is their minds and hearts that have been robbed.

We are warned to beware, lest anyone rob us through “philosophy and vain deceit.” Philosophy is what one thinks, what one believes. If you want to affect the behavior of a person, change what

that person believes. People behave a certain way as a consequence of how they believe. “Vain deceit” speaks of the idols we take for ourselves.

The Bible goes on to say: “...after the tradition…after the rudiments...” This is the thinking process of man without any regard given to God. The verse concludes the thought with the phrase, “...and not after Christ.” On one side we find “philosophy, vain deceit, the traditions of men, the rudiments of the world”; on the other side “...after Christ.”

a chriSTian School ouGhT To Be paTTerned “After Christ.”

We say we have a Christian school. This is a meaningful statement. This conviction should be held and articulated by pastors, principals, and Christian school teachers. Also, the young people who attend and graduate from our Christian schools ought to hold these same convictions and be able to articulate them as well.

There ought to be no greater champions of Christian education than the young people who have received it. Their lives should advocate to others that Christian education is desperately needed.

For the first time in the history of America, more people believe in reincarnation than in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Many young people could tell you more about karma than they could tell you about Christ.

Page 15: Temple Baptist Academy Magazine

15Powell · TennesseeTemPleBaPTisTacademy.com

WhaT makeS a School chriSTian?

We must understand that Christian education is far more than what occurs in the classroom. The Christian school is just one of the places where Christian education can occur. Christian education can take place in an automobile, as a father travels with his son, and instructs him in the Christian life. Christian education can take place as a mother stands in her kitchen, and shares the things of God with her daughter while cooking a meal. Christian education can take place in a Sunday school class as a teacher faithfully shares the Word of God.

The scope of Christian education takes in all of life. Christian education can and must go on night and day. This is what is spoken of in the sixth chapter of Deuteronomy. It is the responsibility of parents under God.

However, to answer the question, “What makes a Christian school “Christian?” we must give our attention to what takes place in what we commonly call the Christian school.

We often refer to our school as a “private” Christian school. There is nothing wrong with the word “private,” but it should never be used to describe our schools without including the word “Christian.” A school can be private without being Christian. But we have a private Christian school as opposed to the public secular school.

Never before has Christian education been more needed, or under more vicious attack.

Many Christian schools are dying, but not from external enemies. Christian schools are suffering from indifference at the hands of parents and pastors. The urgency, attention, and dedication once devoted to Christian schools is a thing of

the past in many places. At a time when true Christian education is desperately needed, we have been lulled to sleep by our affluence.

There are only three guiding lights in our society: the Christian home, the local New Testament church, and the Christian school. Christian schools are only an opportunity; they are not a guaranteed outcome. We can guarantee that our school has the right philosophy and employs a faculty that embraces and teaches from that philosophy. However, we cannot tell parents, “If you will only enroll your children here, we guarantee that they will become...” We cannot guarantee to a parent that if they send their children to our Christian school, a changed human being will walk across a platform someday with a diploma in hand. It is a mistake to make a promise the Christian school cannot keep. The Christian school is not a production line. We are not building cars; we are seeking, with God’s help, to assist parents in building the lives of their children.

It is vital that we understand that a school is not “Christian” because it is clean. It is not “Christian” because there is a dress code, because students are not attacked in the restrooms, or because profanity or drug use is not tolerated. A school is not “Christian” because there are rules forbidding certain kinds of behavior. A public secular school can do all these things and more, but it is still not “Christian.” Christian education has more to do with what is put into it then what is taken out of it.

The scope of Christian education takes in all of life. Christian education can and must go on night and day. It is the responsibility of

parents under God.

WhaT makeS a School chriSTian?

BiBlical leaderShip

What is it that makes a school a “Christian” school? The first distinctive, essential element of a Christian school is Biblical leadership.

A Biblical leader is marked by his unending pursuit of Jesus Christ. Much is made today of “servant leadership.” A Biblical leader will serve others, but service is not his goal; obedience to Christ is his goal. Obeying Christ will bring us to be ever ready to serve others.

God has established authority and commanded that we follow God-ordained authority. Authority is not designed to be used to dictate people, whether it is in the classroom, the home, or from the pulpit. A position of authority has nothing to do with a person’s value; it has everything to do with order. If the teacher is not in charge of the classroom, who is? A teacher, leading his classroom in a Biblical fashion, will see the value of each person he is working with and seek to serve that person. At the moment the heart of a teacher is not yielded to the need of any student, he ceases to have a Christian school classroom. Biblical leadership recognizes God-given authority is an opportunity to obey Christ through serving.

This world is looking for position, for a salary, for benefits. However, in the truly Christian school we begin with biblical leadership, whether it is in the classroom, the athletic field, or the principal’s office. May God

help us to examine our motives, our calling, our leadership, and our commitment to obey and pursue Jesus Christ.

The auThoriTy oF ScripTure

Another distinctive of a truly Christian school is a belief in the authority and sufficiency of the Scriptures. Many educators in the secular school system will tell you, “I’m absolutely positive, 100 percent sure, without a shadow of a doubt, that there are no absolutes.”

For the Christian educator, the issue of the authority and truthfulness of Scripture is settled. The Bible says in John 17:17, the high-priestly prayer of our Lord Jesus Christ, “Sanctify them through thy truth; thy word is truth.” There is an unchanging standard of absolute truth. Every Christian educator must understand the importance of what he is doing. He is equipping people with the truth. What a profound thought!

In II Timothy 3:7, we are told that in these last days men who reject God’s Word are “ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” There is an apt description of public secular education. When God’s Word is removed from education, a person can learn forever and never come to the knowledge of the truth.

a Goal To See The loST Saved

The third distinctive of truly Christian education is that there is a desire to have students who truly know the Lord Jesus Christ. The great issue in our society is not ignorance. The great issue of our society is sin. Secular educators scoff at this. They claim if we eliminate ignorance, we can lift men up by their own bootstraps and make the world a better place.

Page 17: Temple Baptist Academy Magazine

17Powell · TennesseeTemPleBaPTisTacademy.com

WhaT makeS a School chriSTian?

If this were true, the most serene, peaceful, and enjoyable places on the face of the earth would be educational institutions. But the truth is that one of the highest rates of suicide in the world is among the educated elite that fill such places, especially psychologists and psychiatrists.

If the problem is ignorance, the answer is education, but the problem is not ignorance. The problem is sin, and the answer is salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.

Many public schools require their teachers to personally visit in the home of every student for the sake of their educational welfare. How much more should Christian school teachers visit the home of every one of his students for the sake of their spiritual welfare! Many parents and students alike need to hear the gospel message. A teacher who will not willingly visit the homes of their students is not fit to serve on the faculty of a Christian school. The faculty of a Christian school should have a fervent desire to see the lost saved.

The reSponSiBiliTy oF parenTS

Another distinctive of truly Christian schools is the emphasis on the responsibility of parents for the training of their children.

Thomas Sowell, a well-known syndicated columnist, has written,

“No one seems to have a harder time figuring out who the cultural elite are than the cultural elite themselves. No one seems to have a harder time figuring out what the values issue is about than those who have been working overtime to undermine the values tradition to the American society. All across this country, the undermining and destruction of the

values that children were taught at home is going on in public schools, from the kindergarten on up.”

Notice Sowell said that the values are being taught at home. He goes on to say,

“Only from time to time as particular books, movies, or lessons come to light and outrage the public, does this cultural warfare surface. Then the flurry of the moment passes, but the undermining of this country’s values continues pervasively, relentlessly, and quietly.”

One of the first things parents try to teach their child is the difference between right and wrong. One of the first things the public school system seeks to accomplish is to erase that distinction. This erasing of values is being called “values clarification.” The stock camouflage for the destruction of traditional values is a claim to be solving a great social problem such as drug abuse, AIDS, or teen pregnancy. The public school might advise, “You don’t want to contract AIDS, so you might consider abstaining from sexual activity before marriage.” True Christian counsel would be, “Whether disease is involved or not, God’s Word commands that we abstain from sex before marriage.” There is all the difference in the world between the two. The secularist advises abstinence for fear of disease, the Bible commands abstinence for fear of God. Sowell goes on to say, “Only those few people who have the time to research specifics as to what is actually being done in drug education, sex education, or death education courses know what an utter fraud these labels really are. These are not courses about drugs, about AIDS, or about teenage pregnancy;

Christian education is an investment, not an expense.

Page 18: Temple Baptist Academy Magazine

TempleBapTisTacademy.comTemple schools18

WhaT makeS a School chriSTian?

they are courses about how right and wrong are outmoded notions, about how your parents’ ideas are no guide for you, about how each person must start from scratch to develop his or her own way

in behavior.” And this warning is from a writer who makes no claim to be a committed Christian.

When pastors,

principals, and teachers do not actively seek to bring parents to realize they are responsible for the education of their children, you do not have a truly Christian school. Parents for too long have abdicated the responsibility God has given them for training their children.

Understand that there is a world of difference between parental participation in education and parental responsibility for providing a Christian education. Christian educators, from pastors to teachers, must understand this principle and make certain they are teaching it to the parents of their students. When the troubled economic times come, it will be the parents who have been made aware of their responsibility that will sacrifice to keep their children in the Christian school. The challenge of educating parents is as great as the challenge of educating their children. They must be taught that the mandate to provide a Christian education

begins with the responsibility of parents as taught in Deuteronomy 6. They must be taught that Christian education is an investment, not an expense.

It is not the church’s responsibility to educate children. It is the responsibility of the pastor to lead the local church to provide an opportunity for a Christian education. However, it is the parents’ responsibility to educate their children. We do not have the authority to relieve parents from that responsibility.

The Bible says in Deuteronomy 6:4-7, “Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God is one Lord: and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children.”

This is a family matter. It is a Christian parent’s sacred responsibility to make certain his children receive a Christian education.

TeachinG younG people oF Their perSonal accounTaBiliTy To God

Another distinctive mark of the truly Christian school is that its teachers and leaders seek to

make each child understand personal accountability to God. A child’s personal accountability must not rest in his teacher, the principal, or even his parents. Each child must understand that he will stand before the living God to give account for his actions. Yes, the Lord

Another distinctive mark of the truly Christian school

is that its teachers and leaders seek to make each child understand personal

accountability to God.

has placed us in authority over them, but when a child comes to understand that he is personally accountable to God, it will make a life-changing difference. The Holy Spirit directed Paul to write in Romans 14:12, “So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.” Teaching young people of their personal accountability to God is one of the marks of a Christian school.

Gaining an education is not an end; it is a means to an end, a conclusion. Ecclesiastes 12:13 says, “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.” The conclusion of the believer is that life must be lived in the fear of God, keeping God’s commandments. We will each meet God some day.

When we say we have a Christian school, may God help us to make certain that we truly do.

Since 1971, Temple Baptist Academy has provided students a Biblical foundation for life. Our schools hold to the highest academic standards for the glory of God. When we speak of Christian education, we understand it cannot be confined to a classroom. In fact, God has designed that the Christian home be a child’s greatest place of learning.

What a child must know about the Lord and the life God has given him should be taught in the home and reinforced in the school. The foundation for life should be laid in the home.

K4 & K5Kindergarten students enjoy an activity-oriented

learning environment with an emphasis on reading

(phonetic approach), writing, and numbers. Students will learn to read before they graduate from kindergarten. The academic curriculum is supplemented as needed to expose children to unique educational themes.

Grades 1-6Phonics mastery is the cornerstone of the

elementary reading program while strong foundations are systematically laid in mathematics, grammar, science, history, and geography.

The Academy is known for being a school with high academic standards; equipping students for success in whatever field God directs them. One of the reasons for such excellence is the exemplary curriculum in each of their classes. In addition to the basic academic curriculum, students in the elementary school benefit from enrichment classes such as Bible, Latin, Applied & Vocal Music, Band, and Physical Education.

1 a vocaBulary BuilderMore than fifty percent of English words come from Latin. A single Latin word may represent the roots of five or ten English words. By learning Latin prefixes and endings, as well as Latin roots, students are capable of comprehending many English words that they have never heard, thus expanding their vocabulary.

2 The ‘ideal’ lanGuaGeEnglish is an amalgamation of several different languages and therefore has many exceptions - its structure is hard to follow. Because of this, English

The reasons to study

Latin are many. It

ADVANTAGELATINTHE

According to the College Board, students who take at least 2 years of Latin score an average of 510 points higher on the SATs than those who had no language study.

Why Study Latin?

Page 33: Temple Baptist Academy Magazine

33Powell · TennesseeTemPleBaPTisTacademy.com

The laTin advanTaGe

speakers may never grasp the structure of the language. Latin’s logical and ordered syntax and grammar make it an “ideal” language from which to learn. A student of Latin is better equipped to write well in English.

3 learn oTher lanGuaGeSTraining in Latin not only gives the student a better understanding of the roots of English vocabulary, it also lays the foundation for learning other Latin-based languages like French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and Romanian. Nearly 80% of each of these languages derive their vocabulary from Latin.

4 real World applicaTionFor professional careers like law, medicine, music and literature, Latin provides yet another bonus. Because these fields require linguistic precision, Latin is typically their base for technical terms

and names. Students of Latin are uniquely ready for these professions.

5 poWer oF perSuaSionThe capacity to persuade is one of the strongest powers a human can exert. The precision of Latin and Greek provides students with an English linguistic tool that cannot be achieved in any other way. Using the right word, at the right time, in the right context, is empowered by the study of classical languages.

“Law schools report that their top students come from the

Classics and Latin. Political science, pre-law and legal

studies majors ranked much lower.” Harvard Magazine ‘98

“In my view, the Christian religion is the most important and one of the first things in which all children, under a free government, ought to be instructed... No truth is more evident to my mind than that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people.”

For The GeneraTion To come

Truly God-honoring Christian schools are more needed than they have ever been. These are schools that see as their purpose

the development of the mind of Christ in the life of each student. These are schools which seek to train young people to find Christ and His Word to be all-sufficient for life and eternity.

Today, more than ever before, Christian parents need answers to the questions they have concerning the education of their children.

WhaT iS chriSTian educaTion?

“But we have the mind of Christ.” I Corinthians 2:16

It is our earnest prayer that you understand how vital it is for your children to receive a Christian education. It is important that parents fully understand what Christian education really is. What is your reason for choosing a Christian school? Do you fully comprehend what Christian education is all about?

Parents enroll their children in a Christian school for many reasons. Some of them include the academic program, the strong emphasis

on discipline, or the relative shelter and safety of such a school. This is not what Christian education is all about. Christian education is the development of the mind of Christ in a child so that he will fully yield his life to be used by the Lord. It goes far beyond the walls of a classroom. It begins in the Christian home and the local Bible-believing church.

WhaT role do parenTS have in providinG a chriSTian educaTion For Their children?

“Thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children.” Deuteronomy 6:7

Many parents do not understand their own role in providing Christian education for their children. In the Bible, God gave the responsibility of training children to parents (Deuteronomy 6:4-7).

Parents must aggressively take on the responsibility to teach their children the truth of God’s Word at every opportunity.

Some parents enroll their children in a Christian school, and yet their homes directly

We are glad that you are prayerfully considering enrolling your children in a Christian school. Our children must cling to the anchor of God’s truth if they are not going to be swept away in the wickedness and despair of the world around them. In this dark day, may they set their hope in God, and keep His commandments.

For The GeneraTion To come

oppose the truths taught in the school. Such inconsistency is hypocrisy on the part of parents and causes children to rebel against the home, the church and the school. You are the key to your child receiving a Christ-honoring education. Your testimony before your children must be an example of a life fully yielded to Jesus Christ.

The inerrant, infallible Word of God is the benchmark that measures and integrates all that a child learns. All truth is God’s truth. For this reason, it is paramount that the families of all Christian school students be active members in a fundamental, Bible-believing, Bible-preaching, local church. When the home, the church, and the school together support the child, he has a stable foundation on which to build his life.

hoW are parenTS To Be involved in chriSTian educaTion?

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6

Even when a family attends a fundamental, Bible-believing church and the children are enrolled in a Christian school, parents have not done their most important part. Your home ought always to be the most important influence in the life of your child. The Christian school is to assist you in the training of your children, but not to take your place.

Christian education is a multi-faceted commitment. Certainly there is the financial commitment, but your commitment to the Christian school also means that you will pray for the school. Satan’s attacks against the school and its students are launched in many ways and from

many directions. Please pray for the pastor, the administration, and the faculty and staff daily.

Make a point of praying for your children’s teachers and their families specifically.

There is also the commitment of your time. There is always time to do the things that matter to God. You cannot imagine the impact you will have on your child by your attendance at the

school’s activities. Too soon these days will be forever and irretrievably gone. Taking the time to be at the parent-teacher fellowships, ballgames, and other events also tells everyone involved that Christian education is important to you. You are always welcome!

Christian education is the development of the mind of Christ in a child so that he will fully yield his life to be used by the Lord.

hoW much iS a chriSTian educaTion WorTh?

“Nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the Lord my God of that which doth cost me nothing.” II Samuel 24:24

Do you look at Christian education as an expense or as an investment? Are you willing to do whatever it takes to ground your children in truth and prepare them for both life and eternity? May God lead you to the conviction that you will sacrifice for your children instead of sacrificing your children to an educational system that will rob them of their confidence in God’s Word.

As you prayerfully consider Christian education for your children, trust the Lord to meet your financial needs. When you give thought to it, you will find things that you are willing to do without

in order to provide a Christ-honoring education for your children.

The Christian school provides a superior education at a fraction of the expense that the public system spends per child. Yet, the tuition paid does not meet all the needs of the school.

Perhaps you have experienced the financial blessings of God upon your life. You might be greatly used of God in helping with the school’s financial needs. Any such gifts would be over and above your tithes and offerings which belong in the ministry of your local church. The Lord supplies the needs of His work through the giving of His people.

WhaT parT doeS diScipline play in chriSTian educaTion?

“And I will walk at liberty: for I seek thy precepts.” Psalm 119:45

Both the school and home must constantly work toward being the mature, godly examples that will motivate our children to walk according to God’s Word. Teachers will deal with your child in a setting very different from the one you experience at home. Likewise, the teacher must never forget that the child’s behavior at home will often bear no resemblance to his behavior at school. Communication, understanding, and support must exist between the home and school at all times.

Although strong discipline is cited as one of the reasons for parents choosing Christian education, it is our experience that the Christian school should be marked by both discipline and pleasantness.

WhaT Should We do When a proBlem ariSeS?

“Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.” Matthew 18:15

We are thankful to God that our Christian school is considered to be an exceptional one. But it is not perfect. Wherever there are people, conflicts will occur. When this happens, there are always God-honoring ways to resolve them.

In the eighteenth chapter of Matthew, the Lord gave us clear direction for handling disputes. We are to go to the person directly involved and deal with them about the issue. To go to someone outside of the immediate situation is to commit the sin of gossip. It is also important to approach problems with the right attitude. Do not allow yourself to become a pawn of the Devil. If the situation cannot be resolved between the two of you, then the teacher will schedule a meeting with the principal.

At some time, you may find that you are not particularly excited about a teacher your child will have. Realize that the Lord brings people into your child’s life that He desires to use in molding

his character. No one can raise a child alone. We should not rob him of the benefits of struggle. Instead, we must teach him by our example and instruction to look to the Lord Jesus Christ.

WhaT iS The Final reSulT oF chriSTian educaTion?

“I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” III John 4

What results do you desire from your child’s education? Is it to be recognized and awarded for the highest academic achievement possible? Perhaps you desire for them to excel in athletics or the fine arts. It is important to train our children to be and to give their best, striving to make the most of the abilities and opportunities that God gives them. However, there is something far more important and lasting for them to achieve.

The end result of a truly Christian education is that our children conduct their daily lives in obedience to the Word of God. We are told in Psalm 119:130, “The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.”

“I am much afraid that the schools will prove to be great gates of hell unless they diligently labor in explaining the Holy Scriptures, engraving them in the hearts of youth. I advise no one to place his child where the Scriptures do not reign paramount. Every institution in which men are not increasingly occupied with the Word of God must become corrupt.”

Martin Luther(1483-1546)

This result is obtainable regardless of a child’s innate abilities. It will have a greater effect on the future of your child than any other thing. No other achievement, regardless of what it is, will bring such lasting joy to the heart of a parent.

As parents, you hold your child’s future in your hands. The Christian school, as a ministry of a local, Bible-believing church, supports the Christian home and will provide an education that will not betray you or your child.

Making a Christian education accessible is a priority at Temple Baptist Academy.

The student Scholarship Fund is a needs-based tuition assistance program for qualifying families who desire a strong biblical foundation and rigorous academic preparation for their children.

Scholarship assistance is available on a limited basis to Academy students whose families meet established financial need criteria. This assistance is only made possible through private donations. Temple Baptist Academy has a long history of assisting students and families regarding their tuition needs.

No student receives tuition assistance for academic or athletic ability. Parents must re-apply each year for tuition assistance. The re-application process

includes an evaluation of the level of academic effort, cooperation, and commitment to Christian education on the part of both the parents and students.

Please consider investing in the lives of children by

making a generous contribution to the scholarship fund. For further information on how to make a donation, contact the Academy office at 865-938-8181 or visit TempleBaptistAcademy.com.

At Temple Schools we are always taking the high road. The high road is not choosing between the good and the bad; it is choosing between the good and the best, and always choosing the best. The best is the unending pursuit of Jesus Christ. Traveling on the high road is reflected in every area of our work - faculty, facilities, and the expectation we have for our students.

Advancement efforts are underway including the remodeling of the Academy campus. A generous donor has contributed the first $100,000 toward a state of the art science lab. You can donate today to this worthy project or other projects in the Crown Education Initiative.

“I often run into young people who attend or have attended Temple Baptist Academy throughout the year and have been out to the school many times. I always find the students to be polite, compassionate, and very patriotic. Temple Baptist

teaches our young people the importance of family and community and to be proud of their faith. East Tennessee is a better place because of the work of Temple Baptist Academy.”
