1. Executive summary

Over the past two years INNOVIS has grown into a firm with multiple specialist capabilities. Its

foremost capability being in the delivery of temporary works engineering. With experience across

projects both small and large there is little INNOVIS has not come across or cannot develop an

optimised solution for.

The intent of this document is to inform the reader of INNOVIS’ capability with the goal of

removing any barriers to engagement.

INNOVIS have prepared a document that covers their capability in two key ways:

1. What INNOVIS is capable of undertaking, and

2. What INNOVIS has undertaken.

The following presentation will leave you with the confidence that INNOVIS is capable of fulfilling

the crucial role of maintaining safety on all worksites for temporary works requirements in a

multitude of circumstances both complex and simple.

INNOVIS’ objective is to continually build its relationship with your company such that the

Calibration and Optimisation are ongoing processes not destinations. They are mindsets and high-performance practises that positively influence time, cost and quality for all parties.

Calibration

To Calibrate we must understand the vision and related stakeholders. People create, and to be successful in that pursuit they must effectively communicate. The role of a consultant should – in its purest form – be to translate client vision into project scope, universally understood by all required disciplines so that their delivery is driven by high-performance expectations and criteria.

Optimisation

To Optimise we must design, procure and construct with the calibrated understanding of client vision. This may include research and development, additional specialist consultant involvement or other processes to ensure a granular rather than superficial approach to problem solving and delivery.

3. How we add value

ANI Staged Erection (Ctrl + Left Click For Video)

CASE STUDYOsborne Naval Shipbuilding Precinct – Buildings 20 and 21 Sequence Analysis

INNOVIS’ primary scope of work included development of the steelwork erection methodology and staged erection analysis for seven structures.

INNOVIS undertook advanced staged erection analysis assessing each structure at each stage of construction for stability and overstress. Analysis for the most complex structure included assessment of over 8000 members under 1500 conditions.

INNOVIS developed and documented the erection methodology on behalf of Samaras Structural Engineers.

Scope included

• Prop design.• Heavy lift design and lift point engineering, lifting beams

etc.• Mobile tower crane design.• Fence and gate design & inspection.• Civil pit design and lift analysis.• Crane Installation (including 200T girder cranes spanning

48m).

Page 10: Temporary Works Capability · • Access Systems (Scaffold,, Swing Stages, Temporary Abseil points, Fall Restraint systems, Alimak and Hoist setup. • Modularisation. • Precast

INNOVIS understands modularisation of structures and the efficiency that it can

bring to projects.

INNOVIS also understands that modularisation for the sake of modularisation

does not always bring the efficiencies that may be desired.

For Example

INNOVIS undertook a design review into modularization of the Building 21 at ANI

and a fully modularized erection sequence was of value for initial site setup,

however modularization of erection for subsequent bays was not desirable, due

to limitations in transport, work zone and the more expensive cranage solution

required.

ANI Modular Lift (20T lift)

5b. ModularisationCASE STUDYAdelaide Airport Terminal Expansion (TEx)

• INNOVIS designed and documented a modular pedestrian protective gantry structure to be erected within the Virgin terminal within the WATPAC site.

• Designed for construction equipment and works to continue above unimpeded.

• Required to be fully constructed within a 3 hour overnight shutdown window, necessitating modular construction.

• Creative solution for manual handling of modules.

INNOVIS is experienced with

• Panel design

• Propping design - precast panel propping and support. Our approach looks beyond the precast scope of works to integrate and optimise precast panel and propping design from a builders perspective, rather than limiting design approach to suit the subcontractor.

• Lift assessments – INNOVIS is experienced with design of lift hardware / inserts and panel strongbacks etc for early age lifting.

• Erection methodologies – our approach includes a comprehensive erection methodology and sequence aligned to the complexity of the methodology.

5d. Precast design

CASE STUDYAdelaide Airport Terminal Expansion (TEx)Client - WATPAC

• INNOVIS approached WATPAC with a concept for erection of precast cores (3 panels 18m high) to expedite steel construction and to mitigate 2 + weeks on critical path. This resulted in significant savings to project preliminaries and offset of project delays.

• Precast construction was critical path. Due to wet joint construction, panels were not stable or fit for steel erection until wet joints were poured and constructed.

• Design included construction of triple height panels without pour of wet joints and minimal panel connections.

CASE STUDYSkyCity Casino HotelClient - Hansen Yuncken

INNOVIS undertook detailed design of back-propping configurations, including:

• Early removal of formwork to transfer floor, proposed to act as a jump Floor/ propping deck for ongoing construction.

• Redesign of typical floor to facilitate reduced back-propping requirements, including minor adjustments to reinforcement and use of higher early age concrete to remove multiple weeks from critical path activities.

• Independent 3rd party proof engineering design of ground floor transfer formwork –requirement to maintain access throughout formwork construction for 24/7 loading dock delivery to SkyCity casino and Adelaide Festival Centre (including semi-trailers), necessitating 17m clear span formwork support structure. Innovis undertook full independent modelling.

Innovis has experience with

• Formwork design.• Re-shore design.• Back-propping design.• Redesign of floor construction to achieve early formwork release• “jump floor” construction.

5h. Formwork

CASE STUDYCalvary Hospital

• INNOVIS undertook a detailed design and analysis of the post tensioned concrete slabs to accelerate formwork stripping and back propping removal, facilitating early stripping from typical floor and early removal of back-propping to transfer floor (concrete slab up to 1.8m thick), which then facilitated early access for following fit-out trades.

• In the course of undertaking the works, INNOVIS completed a peer review of the post tensioned concrete design and presented value management opportunities through an optimised design.
