TRANSCRIPT
The company has been providing completions and reservoir monitoring products and services to the upstream oil and gas industry globally, and has now enhanced its electronic monitoring technologies offering.
Today, permanent downhole measurement technology is an increasingly common component of most conventional well completions. The Tendeka Electrical Monitoring system consists of one or more down hole sensors used to measure, record, and transmit pressure and temperature data, allowing the operator to closely monitor their reservoir’s performance. Tendeka can offer a range of pressure/temperature sensors to suit all well specifications and budgets.
The system consists of a range of electronic
sapphire, silicone and quartz pressure gauges; Surface Data Acquisition Units; Wellhead Outlets, and Down Hole Cables.
Garth Naldrett, Vice President – Monitoring & Control, said: “Our Guardian product range provides high-resolution, permanent monitoring of well pressure and temperature-vital components in an operation where operators want to ensure optimal performance and reduce costs.
“The standard of technology available to the energy industry has become much higher than previously expected, and as such the ability to reduce uncertainty and maximise reservoir recovery is no longer desired, but demanded.
“The Guardian range complements the services
and solutions that we have been providing to the global energy industry and we are excited about this new offering.”
Tendeka has unveiled its new range of Guardian products, providing operators with unrivalled electronic monitoring technology to optimise asset performance and significantly reduce costs.

The Middle East has become a prime location for
the oil and gas sector. With it’s oilfields being among
the most productive in the world, it’s no wonder
that half of the world’s oil needs can be met from
this region alone.
Tendeka has been operating in the Middle East for several years now with many successes, however, over the past year, our success has rocketed with a healthy order book for 2013 already in place.
Working here provides a broad range of opportunities and challenges and having a local team with local knowledge on the ground brings great benefits. Simply put, doing business in the Middle East is quite unlike operating any other region, as there is a wealth of cultural and social differences to be both mindful and respectful of.
Having recently secured a three-year contract with a major international oil and gas company in the region, with options to extend for a further two years, Tendeka will provide it’s FloSeal Open Hole Packers to isolate sections of the reservoir by using compression force without the need for a fluid inflated element.
Tendeka’s innovative fibre optic DTS (distributed temperature sensing) system has been awarded contracts in the region including the UAE, while our patented swellable packers range has been deployed successfully on several projects.
A major oil and gas company is using our FloQuest software, which will help visualise what is happening downhole and help devise future drilling interventions based on the results.
The Middle East presents great potential for Tendeka, so to help the company continue growing further, we are examining our teams throughout the region and considering opportunities which will best support our growth strategy.
There is no substitute for having a presence in one of the most important energy hubs on the planet, and Tendeka is continuing to enjoy great success as a direct result of investing in its global teams, particularly within this region.
By Derren Simpson, Vice President for Middle East and North Africa.
A year full of Middle Eastern promise
Having the means to monitor and measure production in real-time provides countless benefits, whether your focus is production surveillance; diagnostic down hole issues or designing production decisions.
Tendeka has developed DGS 'Distributed Gradient Sensing' – an intervention system coupled with Pressure Gradient mapping that can be run as a conventional slickline rig-up, but with the advantage of providing real-time data.
The advantages of the technology are clear : the system offers continuous measurements along the entire length of the wellbore through industry-leading temperature resolution and spatial resolution (0. 01C), with much clearer event interpretation, along with high application and installation flexibility.
Options are available to incorporate memory production logging systems with the capability to measure pressure, temperature, CCL and flow which can provide valuable back-up well data all on a single deployment. The system can also incorporate acoustic sensing for more detailed well diagnostics.
Coupled with Vie-Quest software, the system allows for the creation of highly visual outputs that can build a valuable graphic illustration on trends within a field development.
Applications include optimisation of gas lift; leak detection and other well integrity issues; flow
allocation and performance stimulation.
By interpreting the real-time date received, a forward plan can very quickly be formulated for remediation of the well with subsequent interventions trips in hole, as necessary.
In essence, with DGS, you get an up-to-the-moment picture of production and of downhole events as they happen, providing the opportunity and the capability to address issues immediately and preserve both production and performance levels.
Tendeka’s Norway-based team has celebrated a major milestone in the wireless gauge development – the first anniversary of the gauge in a well in the NCS’ Troll Field.
The 3.5” wireless temperature and pressure gauge was retrofitted into the low-pressure (32 bar) gas well at 2200m, and the existing well head pressure sensor was used to capture the wireless signal and extract the data.
The application was especially challenging as the well was a marginal producer and the wellhead pressure had large background pressure variations, because of limited well deliverability. Despite these conditions, pressure pulse transmission has proved effective.
Annabel Green, Tendeka’s product line director for wireless technologies, said: “When we installed the wireless gauge, we promised the client one year of
continuous downhole data. We have fulfilled our promise and the gauge is still going strong.”
This is just one of Tendeka’s monitoring technologies that have enabled operators to make informed decisions that optimise asset performance and reduce cost.

Happy 1st Birthday to Tendeka’s wireless gauge in Norway’s Troll Field
The right solution, at your fingertipsIt can at times seem as if new challenges appear everyday when working with wells and reservoirs, and the solution to maximising recovery is not always apparent.
Earlier this year, in order to provide more control over downhole engineering choices at every stage of the completion process, Tendeka published a range of product line brochures, providing in-depth insight into the products, services, and bespoke solutions we offer. Each brochure covers a specific theme including: zonal isolation, swells and packers, flow control, monitoring, and software.
In order to augment these product line brochures, we now offer product catalogues with full datasheets, detailing each of the Tendeka products from our new Guardian electrical monitoring products, through our DTS and software modelling solutions, to our industry leading zonal isolation products.
All of these datasheets, product line catalogues and product brochures can be downloaded from our new Technical Portal: www.portal.tendeka.com
So now, when a challenge arises, no matter the complexity of the task, the answer to the problem could be at your fingertips.
