E – SCOPE OF WORKS

THE TURKS AND CAICOS ISLANDS AIRPORTS AUTHORITY

E – SCOPE OF WORKS

FOR

RENOVATION AND REFURBISHMENT OF THE J.A.G.S McCARTNEY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, GRAND TURK, TURKS AND CAICOS

ISLANDS

Tender Reference Number: TCIAA 17/01

During the passing of mega storms Hurricanes Irma & Maria which made landfall

within the Turks & Caicos Islands throughout the month of September 2017. The

J.A.G.S. McCartney International Airport Facility had received severe damages to the

main terminal building, the control tower and the fire hall building and other

associated areas generally.

Due to the high importance and lively hood that the facility contributes to the island of

Grand Turk and to the general Turks & Caicos Islands, to get the facility back in top

shape is most critical.

For the purpose of the provided tender documents, it will be most critical that all

tenders provide a detailed and outlined construction methodology and construction

program illustrating/mentioning how the intended works are intended to be

undertaken while providing a safe environment for all users while the remedial works

are undertaken and the facility is still under operations.

Along with the above, the facilities in general have been inspected by representatives

of the Turks & Caicos Islands Airports Authority accompanied by representatives of BCQS Ltd & CSE Structural Engineers.

CSE Engineers Ltd have since provided a outlined survey report dated as the 12th of

December 2017, where numerous observations and recommendations have been

provided as guidelines of the main areas of concerns in terms of structural

recommendations and upgrades to the various facilities.

The damages noted to the facilities as per various site inspections are as follows;

• Roof damages to main flat roofs located over the International Arrivals

area.

• Water ingress damages to ceiling tiles and grids throughout.

• Water ingress to sheetrock walls and insulations.

• Water damages to M.E.P services & fixtures & fittings.

• Damages to some areas of pitched roof areas.

• Some damages to external façade & cladding.

• Damages to external several metal doors.

• Severe damages to Fire Hall building

• Severe damages to Control tower.

A detailed schedule of works document have been provided for the subject Terminal

building outlining the above mentioned works, where the contractor would be

expected to visit the facility and price the works as in accordance with the provided

documents. All other associated works may be address or presented as additions to

the contract in the form of provisional sum items until further confirmations.

Should there be any concerns or queries the contractor should direct all questions for

clarifications if not provide an alternatives with the construction methodology for

review.
