Ever wish you had a second chance?

Hundreds of thousands of women each year are undergoing difficult challenges in their lives and need a second chance. Jordan Community Resource Center offers that chance.

This fall we are celebrating our 10th year of serving these socially challenged women by providing them with transitional housing, workforce development, job placement and mentoring. As you might imagine, all of these services come at a substantial cost. In order to offset these expenses and garner support for their plight we’re soliciting the help of concerned citizens and supporting businesses like yours.

This year we’re hosting the Jordan’s 10th Anniversary Celebration “We Rise” (in honor of the late great Maya Angelou) to be held October 10th at the Embassy Suites in Independence, Ohio, featuring honoree Lisa L. Bottoms (Program Director / Cleveland Foundation). Our guest speaker will be Dr. Pamela Redden, MD (NEON and Women’s Reintegration Center)

Everyone could benefit from a second chance. Whether its a chance to make our lives better, make better decisions or a chance to rise beyond our current situation. Join us as we bring awareness and provide assistance to our sisters, mothers and daughters.

Please review the sponsorship information provided and let’s give these women a second chance. With your help, we can all rise. Thank you in advance for your participation. For more information please contact Vice Chair, Angela Townsend at (216) 441-2496.

About Us Our philosophy is, “If one woman can be redirected a whole generation can be positively impacted.” There is a need to identify God given talents, and abilities in order to assist women in regaining self-esteem, confidence and the skills needed to become good role models and an encouragement to their children and families. Jordan is seeking your support, and assistance in giving these women an opportunity to change their lives in order to make a positive and gradual return to society.

Our ParticipantsWomen experience many transitional phases throughout their lives. Women go through big changes, but what makes some women embrace these moments while others feel as if they are about to fall apart? Founder Tenisha Gant Watson believes that the answer lies in how we consciously mark these changes and allow them to change us. Jordan explores the passages that are meaningful to contemporary women and then supplies the tools, creative projects, and ceremonies to honor these occurrences.

Our MissionOur mission is to provide supportive housing, workforce development, employment placement and mentorship for women who are homeless or at risk. The Jordan Community Resource Center offers services that are instrumental in enhancing the lives of women in transition. Without proper training, health care and community support, the pressures and challenges of reentry can be overwhelming if not impossible.

Number of Homeless Worldwide

It is very difficult to determine how many homeless people there are in the world because countries have different legal defi-nitions for homelessness. Natural disasters and sudden civil unrest also complicate the picture. The best we have is a conserva-tive estimate from the United Nations in 2005, which puts the number of homeless at 100 million.
