Vats par- (nteria Report)

"1 18 aontimaing to Perform field mnodifications as described previously. "s lported Under SCO 3793R, per 10 CPR 50.55(e), Westinghouse believes that the failure at the Llidtorque motor opertor~s on three gate valves subseuu to the modificatiats is a materials% problem. Viestingbouse is Oontiiiang the investigation via Field Deficiency Report number WATM-lO 165. Our final report on this matter will be provided upon receipt of revised drawing and field change notices from Vqstingtaouse.

Our next report an this bulletin for Watts Bar wili be submitted in conjunction with our next report on NK8 WBN NB 8013.

Bellefonte (Final Report)

Uwne at the Potentially deficient valves are being supplied on the Bellefonte 3VMS contract. Below is a listing of Borg Warner (NYD) valves supplied for Bellefonte Nuclear Plant which were subject to potential failure as identified in IEB 81-02 and Supplement 1.* The operating conditions at Bellefonte are substantially less severe than the conditions which resulted in the component f~ailure described in lEB 81-02. The manufacturer has shown by test that these valr'es will perform satisfactorily when subjected to the service conditions for which they will be used. Consequently, these valves could not have failed and adversely affected plant safety. Therefore, the valves are acceptable for use as is and no modification or repairs we necessary. For mor detailed information refer to TVA's revised final report on nonconformance reports (IC~s) 0020 and BULISE 8005 which was filed in a letter from L. K. Mills to J. P. O'Reilly dated September 24, 1981, pursuant to the requirements of 10 CPR 50.55f~e).
