Advanced LightingTechnologies

Low Pole System AdvantagesLow pole tennis court lighting systems have many advantages

over high pole alternatives. These include:

» Reduced glare

» Superior spill light control

» Substantially longer lamp life, meaning greatly reduced

maintenance costs

» Ability to illuminate individual courts when the entire

complex is not in use

» Lower visual impact on the surrounding neighbourhood

» Easier to access so no need for “long reach” cherry pickers

to carry out lamp replacement and general maintenance

By reducing glare and spill light, playing times may be

extended as there is less impact on the surrounding

community.

Spill light restrictions are enforced by most local bodies and

these aspects should be addressed at the commencement

of the design process. Spill light is light shining beyond

the sports facility that may annoy occupants of adjoining

properties. RUUD Luminaires have sharp cut-off to overcome

this problem.

Our qualiied team is available to assist with your resource

consent process.

High Performance

Optimum Uniformity

Precise Distribution

Design Excellence

Successful tennis court lighting begins with good design.

The main factors to be considered in the design process are:

» Quantity of light

» Quality of light

The quantity of light is expressed as an average lux level and is

usually determined by the level of tennis to be played. General

guidelines recommend lower levels for recreational play, medium

levels for club standard and high levels for international or

professional grade.

Australian and New Zealand standards recommend the following

average maintained lux levels for the various levels of play.

» Recreational and Residential – 250 lux

» Club Competition and Commercial – 350 lux

» International and National – 1000 lux

The quality of light is evaluated by the degree of light uniformity

and lack of glare. Optimum uniformity is achieved by using light

ittings that provide the correct light distribution and that are

positioned appropriately around the perimeter of the court.

Glare is kept to a minimum by utilising light ittings with precise

cut-off distribution.

For optimum design, a product has to offer more than reliability,

performance and value. It must also become part of the

environment, deliver minimal environmental impact and be

energy eficient.

Our range of products can be tailored to meet your budget and

application constraints.

With our qualiied staff we are able to assist with your total

lighting solution.

AC SERIES

CF SERIES

The Area Cut-off AC Series is an ideal cost effective

solution for stand alone tennis courts.

This forward throw relector has a main beam 60 degrees from

vertical providing wide lateral distribution and excellent uniformities.

The itting is mounted horizontally (lat glass) for glare control and an

internal backlight shield is available as an accessory to provide sharp

cut-off behind the pole.

Area Cut-off

Cut-off FloodThe Cut-off Flood CF Series is an ideal cost

effective solution for multi-court applications.

The CF Series is a forward throw light itting with an optical

system speciically designed to assure maximum main beam

projection while minimising spill light. It is generally tilted

to a maximum of 20 degrees above horizontal to reduce

glare and obtain optimum performance.

The Aerodome® AVV Series is a stylish itting suitable for

* EPA (Effective Projected Area)

is a rating assigned to pole-mounted lighting ixtures based on the ixture or

pole’s surface area and shape.

The EPA is used to calculate wind loading to determine the proper pole

size needed to support a ixture in outdoor applications. EPA maps indicate

approximate maximum wind zones. Consult your Advanced Lighting

Technologies representative for further advice.
