Price&Myers (Structural Engineer) Meet The Design Team Max Fordham (Services Engineer) VOGT’s design process is initiated with site specific natural and cultural observations that are studied through design sketches and landscape models. It is through this process of observation, sketching and modelling that is at the core of our design inquiry that insights emerge and solutions present themselves. These solutions are then tested and refined until a concrete solution is reached that can be realised in the built form. VOGT has realised a number of projects in the UK, Europe, and throughout the world, including the Tate Modern Galleries (London), Swiss National Museum (Zurich), 2012 Olympic Athlete’s Village (London) and Lohsepark (Hamburg). Price & Myers was established in 1978 as a firm of consulting structural engineers, with the aim of working with good imaginative architects, to make excellent buildings. In our first 37 years we have completed over 25,000 jobs, and won over 580 awards. We have offices in London, Nottingham, and Oxford, and currently employ about 185 people. Our work includes many residential projects, which account for around 40% of our portfolio. We have also worked very successfully and for many years with Henley Halebrown Rorrison, with frank and productive design communication between our practices. Max Fordham has been bringing buildings to life since 1966. On the eve of our 50th anniversary, our practice has grown to more than 200 people with offices in London, Edinburgh, Cambridge, Manchester and Bristol. Our portfolio of buildings includes the multi award-winning Hive library in Worcester, the refurbished Tate Britain, the National Museum of Scotland and the Stirling Prize-winning MAXXI in Rome. The council is proposing to utilise a piece of under used council land at the western end of Tent Street as a suitable development site. As you may be aware, there is much need for new affordable homes as Tower Hamlets is a densely populated borough, with more than 250,000 people living in eight square miles and still with over 24,000 households on the Council’s housing waiting list. There is a clear need to provide affordable housing for local residents and to build and develop settled communities. We want to ensure that everyone has a decent home, is free from overcrowding and has a healthy living environment. Over the next 4 years, the council has ambitions to deliver 1000 new homes on Council owned land. The new development at Tent Street will provide approximately 72 new Homes, some of which will be adapted for disabled residents. It will improve the existing landscape and provide attractive homes for residents. The development will provide an opportunity to create a fantastic living space in the community and bring previously underutilised land back into use.
