As your project goes through its many phases, we pull your goals, requirements, and desires together to

assemble a concise document that can be competitively bid or negotiated. We work with your design

team members to create a facility that will work for you today — and tomorrow.

Teqniqal Systems can be of service in many ways. We provide consultation with regard to

programming, budgetary planning, site surveys, construction documents, and owner training. We have a

diverse background in performance space planning and technical systems design required for sports

facilities, theatres, conference rooms, and religious spaces. Our involvement in the facility design at its

earliest stage can ensure proper planning for future growth and that adequate technical provisions are

made.

INDEPENDENT CONSULTANTS: We have no ties to manufacturers or contractors. We offer

objective designs based on product review combined with practical knowledge of their application. We

tailor systems to the specific needs of clients and specify exacting requirements for installation,

operation, and maintenance. The systems we design are sensitive to the aesthetics of architecture, and

cognizant of the realities of finance.

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY: Each project is a new challenge to which we apply proven design principles.

Unique requirements demand unique solutions. We design facilities and systems that are safe, simple to

operate, and cost effective, yet appropriately flexible. We believe a variety of users should be able to

achieve their production goals. Spaces and systems should work for everyone — performers, operators,

maintenance crews, and the audience alike.

DESIGN APPROACH: We accommodate architectural and engineering requirements to yield a facility

that is efficient in the use of space and equipment. We plan room for the growth and development of the

systems and their users so they don’t get “painted into a corner.”

FEE STRUCTURE: We are flexible and competitive. Fees may be based upon a flat rate, an hourly

rate, or some appropriate combination best suited to the different phases of the project. Document

reproduction and travel expenses are invoiced in addition to our design services to ensure maximum

benefit of the design dollar.

INSPECTIONS AND SEMINARS

Our philosophy of stage safety extends beyond the boundaries of the acting area; it encompasses the

entire physical facility. Safe rigging is not just checking to see if all of the bolts are tight. It starts with

proper safety training of the entire theatre crew, from the janitor and building maintenance staff, to the

stage crew, actors, wardrobe, and box office personnel.

Safety is no accident. It is the result of knowledgeable people trained to recognize and confront the

hazardous and irresponsible. It involves good record keeping, consistent and scrutinous observation,

and proper training in the procedures of identifying hazards and handling an emergency.

Theatre Safety goes beyond the stage. It includes the shop, the traps, the costume lab, the control

booth, the catwalks, and the house. It is not just the fly system or the power tools — it encompasses all

of the facility and production. A comprehensive Safety Program involves everything from the street to

the alley; patrons, performers, guest crews, and staff included:

The safe and proper use of these resources requires training. Planning, education, and hands-on

experience are all necessary to establish consistent and repeatable procedures for emergency situations.

Our Theatre Safety Seminars can help your staff become much safer by planning an effective program

of training, recordkeeping, and maintenance. Seminars can be arranged for almost any size group and

time frame. We recommend a minimum of one full day classroom seminar, with a second day devoted

to 'hands-on' situations.

We can also provide Rigging System Inspections and ‘Street to the Alley’ Facility Safety

Assessments. These services include a point by point review of equipment, procedures, and systems.

Upon completion, a comprehensive report is presented outlining the physical and operational condition

of your facility and systems. The report includes recommendations for upgrades, repairs, and

replacement of machinery; procedural guidelines; and recommended signage and graphics.
