Welcome to the Announcements Section of Roundtable.
Because of time restraints we have to restructured how we present announcements. We understand the value of announcements though so here is how they will work: • Make an announcement submission by
emailing a flier or write up to [email protected] subject Announce-ment. Submissions must be made at least 24hrs before the start of Roundtable.
• At Roundtable all announcements will be read including event dates/times and perti-nent details.
• Fliers will be included in the Roundtable Re-cap Newsletter following Roundtable.
Thank you for your respect and understanding.

Thank you to all of the Leaders involved with SDIC Troops who at-tended our Scouts BSA Breakout Session! ****Keep on helping your New Scouts with virtual experiences and kits of supplies...both the National studies and our experience show that our youth tend to have a "more successful" Scouting career (longevity in Scouting, participation in Scouting activities, advancement, etc.) when they earn First Class in their first year in the Troop.
New Scouts' Learning Sessions (the latter are also done virtually during these pandemic times). **A number of images for virtual use were shared, including those of pioneering, first aid, orienteering, plant identification, and Safe Swim De-fense. We also shared the kit we have the New Scouts pick up (contactless) for the requirements of woods tools/fire making/stove lighting.

Venture Crew Break - Out Re-cap
Creates clear lines of responsibility and areas for advisors to support the Crew officers.
Ground Rules for Planning Conference
Respect on e another’s views. Listen and do not interrupt.
Keep focused on the task of planning the an-nual program.
Use the planning model to keep everyone on track.
Address questions. This helps with unintend-ed consequences.
Write out ideas so everyone can see them. Be in agreement.
6 Steps for Successful Planning Meeting
Lead a discussion on the Crew’s goals for the coming year
Brainstorm ideas based on the Venturing Activity Interest Surveys.
Evaluate Crew developed ideas for compati-bility to the Program Capability Invento-ry.
Expand basic program by adding support programs and activities that lead to the
Built into everything that we do in Venturing are two skills of leadership: Planning and Communication. This session focused on planning skills and opportunities in Ventur-ing. “Planning a program is often likened to living the experience in advance.” As an Advisor, your role is to support the crew as they design, plan, and implement the annual crew program. The three phases of the planning process are: annual program plan-ning, a program planning conference, and the implementation of the program. Why Create an Annual Plan?
Enables crew to achieve the crew’s vision. Allows Venturers & Advisors to plan per-
sonal calendars. Participation in activities increases. With a plan officer’s can be chosen to help
implement that plan. The plan ultimately determines what the
crew will be doing throughout the year. By planning ahead, activities can match
the Crew members interests.

big activity and recognition requirements. Draft plan and get Officer’s approval. Assign activity man-
agers. Distribute annual plan and calendar to Crew, families and
COR. Steps in the Implementation Process:
Define resources Consider alternatives Commit the plan to writing Promote the plan Execute the plan Assess the activity
Why is a “Plan to plan’ an important part of the overall planning process? How do survey tools such as the Venturing Activities Survey and the Program Capabilities In-ventory help prepare the crew for success in planning and delivering adventures? How can formal training courses (e.g., ILS-C, mentoring training, time management training, etc. provide some structure for the crew’s planning process? What sort of counseling is needed to help Venturers take on the opportunities that will make them more successful planners? How will you use what you have learned in this roundtable presentation to support your crew’s?
