TERM 1 WEEK 11 Tuesday 7th April 2020 Principals Report The Easter break is almost upon us to officially begin the Term 1 holiday break. It has certainly been a challenging time for students, parents and staff, but we have persevered and I am proud to be Principal of the nurturing and resilient school community here at Macksville Public School. Despite the disappointments of cancelling our traditional gatherings around Easter celebrations and assemblies, our community is facing this together and with resourceful planning, we will prevail. I will take this opportunity to let you know we have to farewell two of our staff members. Mrs Annie Bradley who taught across all stages here has transferred to the Macleay Valley, and we wish her all the best in her new position in the future. Also leaving us is Ms Kris De Jong, our wonderful school counsellor, who has taken up a position in the Coffs area. Kris has been a most valued member of our school community and will be greatly missed by students and staff. Next term, we will welcome Dr Tara Kocek into MPS as our new school counsellor. While we are unsure what the next couple of weeks may bring, at this stage I can inform you that there will be no change to our school’s operation at the beginning of Term 2 2020. That is: • We will continue to provide online learning for all our students; • Our doors will remain open for the children of essential services personnel; • We will continue to encourage parents who are non-essential services employees to keep their children at home if possible, to alleviate the risk of COVID-19 infection to our staff and the students who are, by necessity, at school. However, if these children must come to school, they will be warmly welcomed. School will resume on Tuesday April 28th, 2020. • Students who attend school will be supported to engage with the same online learning as students who are not at school; Staff will seek to make contact with all students each week, to check on their progress and wellbeing. Should there be any change to the way our school will operate at the commencement of Term 2, I will make contact with you prior to April 27 th , 2020 via our school website and our School Facebook page. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me on 6568 1800. Wishing you a safe, healthy and relaxing school holiday break. ~ Principal - Anthony Buckley P&C News We would like to thank you all for your wonderful donaons for our annual Easter Raffle. TERM 1 WEEK 11 Tuesday 7th April 2020

Principal’s Report The Easter break is almost upon us to officially begin the

Term 1 holiday break. It has certainly been a challenging

time for students, parents and staff, but we have persevered

and I am proud to be Principal of the nurturing and resilient

school community here at Macksville Public School.

Despite the disappointments of cancelling our traditional

gatherings around Easter celebrations and assemblies, our

community is facing this together and with resourceful

planning, we will prevail.

I will take this opportunity to let you know we have to farewell

two of our staff members. Mrs Annie Bradley who taught

across all stages here has transferred to the Macleay Valley,

and we wish her all the best in her new position in the future. Also leaving us is Ms Kris De Jong, our

wonderful school counsellor, who has taken up a position in the Coffs area. Kris has been a most

valued member of our school community and will be greatly missed by students and staff. Next term,

we will welcome Dr Tara Kocek into MPS as our new school counsellor.

While we are unsure what the next couple of weeks may bring, at this stage I can inform you that

there will be no change to our school’s operation at the beginning of Term 2 2020. That is:

• We will continue to provide online learning for all our students;

• Our doors will remain open for the children of essential services personnel;

• We will continue to encourage parents who are non-essential services employees to keep their

children at home if possible, to alleviate the risk of COVID-19 infection to our staff and the students

who are, by necessity, at school. However, if these children must come to school, they will be warmly

welcomed. School will resume on Tuesday April 28th, 2020.

• Students who attend school will be supported to engage with the same online learning as students

who are not at school;

Staff will seek to make contact with all students each

week, to check on their progress and wellbeing.

Should there be any change to the way our school will

operate at the commencement of Term 2, I will make

contact with you prior to April 27th, 2020 via our school

website and our School Facebook page. If you have any

questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact

me on 6568 1800.

Wishing you a safe, healthy and relaxing school holiday

break.
