It has been a very busy term and students are progressing well. We have entered into the realm of Online Testing in Reading, Maths, Social and Emotional Learning, Science and Grammar and Punctuation. This has been a difficult task especially with the pressure of technology needs to cater for the tests. I commend the staff for their patience and flexibility as we now have good baseline data to help lead our school improvement. Kids Matter Our school is a Kid’s Matter School. The name describes the care for student wellbeing which happens at our school to support: a Positive Learning Environment, Social and Emotional Health, Mental Health and Community Relationships. Outside Cluster 3 in front of Breakfast Club we are developing a Kids Matter Corner. This is an area where students can go to chill out, meet a friend and get support when needed. Our Kids Matter Student Team are helping to create this corner and manage it. YOU can help by providing donations of colourful cushions, mats and bean bags to put in the corner. Please contact Mrs Rachel Deroost who is our Kids Matter leader for 2017. We are also developing afterschool Kids Matter projects such as Be Me for girls and a Boys Shed for boys. These activities are organised by staff and we really appreciate the care they show to our students. P&C Thank you to all of the community members who have stepped up to create an enthusiastic Leadership team for 2017. It’s time now to support this team to ensure the P&C make a difference to our school family. Sunshine Day was a very positive start with students celebrating making someone else’s day worthwhile. Read our windows to see what makes our school shine. On Wednesday and Thursday we are having our Independent Public School Review. During this time, we will be sharing our schools’ accomplishments and plans for improvement. All of the community will be represented at the Review including the School Board, P&C, staff and students. It is a pleasure to share our great work with the Reviewers as I am very proud of our school and the determination to make a difference to our kids. Twas the night before school started

When all through the town

The parents were cheering –

It was a riotous sound

By eight the next morning the kids were in blue

And sent to their classes – learning to do

Reading and Maths lessons; French and Science, too

Phys Ed and Music - but Councillor Elections are new

With new pencils, new folders, new passwords to use

New teachers, new friends, new play areas to choose

The children were tired when they finished school that first day

But the joy of Year 5 blew all anxiety away!
