OPEN GIRLS SOCCER On Wednesday 1st May the Open Girls soccer team took on Murrumburrah at O’Connor Park. The game was ghtly fought with possession being even through‐out the game. Defence from both teams was excellent and meant that there were few opportuni es to score. It took un l 10 minutes into the second half for a goal to be scored. Anisa Rees got around the keeper and put the ball into the bo om right hand corner of the net. For the rest of the game Murrumburrah created scoring opportuni es only to be turned away by excel‐lent defence from Ma lda McPherson, Michaela Webb, Stevie Hartshorn and Brooke and Breanna Logue. The score remained at 1‐0 at full me. All of the girls displayed excellent team work and sportsmanship and should all be proud of their efforts. A big thank‐you also to Connor Thornley for officia ng the game, and doing a fantas c job.

WAGGA TOUCH CARNIVAL Cootamundra High School sent a 9/10 boys and 9/10 girls team to the Wagga Touch Carnival on Friday the 6th of April. It was a extremely hot day and both teams had to play mul ple games with limited breaks across the day. Each team won 2 games against Gundagai and Junee but were both beaten in tough contests by the eventual grand final‐ists TRAC and Kildare. The students should be very proud of their resilience and effort under very tough condi ons on the day. Special men‐

on to Aaron Basham for being our nominated referee and Sophie McDermo and Jacob Ma‐her for leading their respec ve teams during the day.
