Week 4 Return to full-time face-to-face teaching

What’s Happening At Rainbow Street?

We are extremely excited to have all students returning to school from next Monday, 25 May 2020. Recent times have been highly unusual and it has been by working closely together and supporting each other that we have got through them as well as we have. We are not at the end of the pandemic yet and we still have lots to do to ensure everyone’s safety and wellbeing but the return to full-time face-to-face teaching and learning is a huge step forward. On behalf of the RSPS staff I would like to thank our parent community for all of your hard work during this period to support the school and continuity of your child’s learning. Return To School All students are expected to attend school from Monday 25 May 2020 unless they are unwell or have a medical certificate to say that they are unable to attend due to chronic or long term illness.

Classroom teaching and learning programs will return to ‘normal’ i.e. not a learning plan as we have had for the last seven weeks. ensure safe access and reopen this access point in the future. Pick Up – To promote quick access off the site and assist with social distancing in the playground, we ask that students in Years K-2 and the Support Unit (SU) are picked up from the playground at 2:45pm. K-2 and SU teachers will walk students to the playground at this time and remain with their class until students are collected. Students in Years 3-6 will be walked to the playground by their class teacher at 3pm and collected/dismissed. We ask that parents do not engage in discussions with teachers or support staff at this time as their responsibility is supervision of the students in their care. Parents are asked to move as quickly as possible off the site once children are collected and to please not congregate on the footpath outside the school. Social distancing restrictions are to be maintained at all times by parents during this process please. Kiss and Drop – The zones on Rainbow Street operate under the ‘No Parking’ rules. This means that you must not stop for more than two minutes and you must remain in or within 3 metres of the vehicle. Hours of operations apply. Mobility Parking Permit holders are allowed to park for up to 5 minutes in a ‘No Parking’ area. We ask that you do not U-turn across Rainbow Street to access the kiss and drop area as this congests traffic. It may mean going the ‘long way around’ but will assist us enormously. Cleaning Enhanced cleaning process are in place on top of normal before and after school cleaning. This includes targeting high touch areas through the day and additional cleaning of toilets and bubblers and topping up of supplies such as soap. Safety And Hygiene Any identified cases of COVID-19 will be managed in line with health advice. If your child is unwell, please do not send them to school. If you or child is exhibiting any of the symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath), please get tested. There are testing clinics in Randwick and Bondi. Your GP can also assist with this. If you are contacted by the school, please collect your child as soon as possible. If your contact details or those of your child’s designated emergency contacts

have changed or do change, please advise the school immediately. Adults need to continue to practice social distancing. We ask that you also do this outside of the school grounds. Students will continue to follow good hygiene practices at school such as:

Regularly washing hands

Avoiding sharing drinks or food

Coughing or sneezing into your elbow, or a tissue which is then binned immediately

Hand sanitiser is available in our learning and administration spaces. Canteen The Canteen is open. We request that wherever possible orders are placed online. This will assist us to maintain social distancing and limit queues. Staffing As you are aware Mrs Engles is expecting a baby in the near future. She will be commencing her maternity leave earlier than anticipated. Mrs Bergmann will teach KEB five days per week until the end of term. We wish Mrs Engles well and can’t wait to hear if a little boy or girl will be joining the RSPS community. Mrs Soo and Miss Hamilton remain on leave at present. Stage 1 Learning This term in HSIE, students in Stage 1 have been learning about The Past In The Present. As part of their Week 4 Learning Plan, students in Stage 1 had to think about what they had learnt about people from the past, how they looked and what they wore. Check out this portrait where the family has gone back to being fisherwoman in the village.
