Term 3
Week 10
16th September 2015
Dear Members of the Nambucca Heads Public School Community,
Farewell This week we farewell Mrs Bonventi as she starts her next life journey as a retiree! Mrs Bonventi is well known by all our students as our Librarian and the leader of PBL in our school. Our students paid tribute to Mrs Bonventi during Book Week earlier
this term when everyone made a personalised book for her. Mrs Bonventi’s calm manner and care for all of our students make her a memorable member of our school community.
Minute to Win It It was truly exciting to see our students demonstrate their school values yesterday during our Minute to Win It! Children were showing respect, honesty and safety towards their peers and teachers as they
were challenged to complete the tasks in just one minute! Seeing students from all classes working together confirmed we certainly do have a safe, honest, respectful school.
Traffic News I have been working with Nambucca Shire Council to improve safety during morning and afternoon “Rush Hour”. Council’s Engineer and Ranger have visited our school site to note the movement of students, buses and cars particularly in Lee Street. Drop off, parking and bus zones will be examined by the Traffic Committee soon. In the meantime please observe the Bus Zone signs. If you stop in this area, even for a short period, you can be fined. The Drop Off Zone near the staff car park is sign posted “No Parking” but stopping to drop off is permitted.
Holidays Term 3 ends this Friday, 18th September.
Term 4 starts for students and staff on
Tuesday 6th October. Enjoy a safe
holiday with your children.

Cheryl Banks, Principal

Minute to Win It
We had an exciting day on Tuesday with the whole school involved in Minute to Win It. Students were sorted into twelve mixed age teams creating a wonderful collaborative experience for everyone involved. It was great to see our older students working so kindly and generously with the younger students - and it was great to see our younger students holding their own against much bigger contestants! The students participated in a range of challenging activities - Shake Your Booty, Pom Pom Catapult, Tic Tac Tweezers, Stack It, Knock 'em Down and HeadBangerz. It was an occupational hazard to walk into classrooms yesterday with Pom Poms flying, Tic Tacs pinging and Army Men and Pool Noodles being used as weapons of mass destruction. Great fun was had by all - teachers included! Finals were held in the hall after recess and it was great to see everyone so excited and involved. We almost blew the roof off with cheering and count downs. Congratulations to ALL students - the sportsmanship, encouragement and friendship shown yesterday was fantastic. Kate Battiston
