Kai ora Koutou – Greetings to you all

Rata Hub Refurb

It was an absolute delight to have Matua Tumai bless the refurbished Rata Hub last Friday. After years of the previous BoT negotiating

with the Ministry of Education; air and noise testing, removing panels to check for damp and water leakage and the MoE ensuring that the

building is fit for purpose; our Yrs 3 & 4 students, Miss Nielsen, Mrs Church and Mrs Vernon can now all enjoy an environment that is

attractive, and physically pleasing and conducive to learning. Feel free to pop in and have a look for yourself when you are passing.

Measles

All schools have been advised by their local District Health Boards to check and update the immunisation records of their staff and

students. If our records show that your child/children’s current immunisation is incomplete or absent, you will have already received an

email from Mrs Mitchell. Please respond to this communication. It is imperative that our records are current to make informed choices if

we were to be placed in a precarious situation.

Student Achievement

In the next two weeks you have an opportunity to check out where your child is with their learning in regard to their year level. These

interviews are optional unless you have received a personal invitation to attend an interview. This is because your child has been identified

as a priority learner, and we want to make sure that we (home and school) are supporting your child in the best way possible. Please make

sure that you communicate with staff to attend these interviews.

ŌHAUPŌ SCHOOL TERM DATES 2020

We are currently preparing our 2020 school roll. Please email the school [email protected] if

your child/ children are moving to another school, Intermediate or have an alternative.

We are currently receiving daily inquiries for 2020 out of zone placements. Before the BoT can offer

any out of zone placements we must ensure we have places for students within our own home

enrolment area. Once those student numbers are known, the BoT is then able to advertise the year level

out of zone students’ places are available for 2020.

WINNERS 3X3 BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT SEPT 2019 A year 5/6 team from Ōhaupō school recently played the inaugural 3 v 3 basketball tournament

hosted by Korakanui School at the Te Awamutu Events Centre.

Playing teams from Pokuru, Korakanui and Maihihi, Ohaupo went undefeated through 6 games of

pool play. Facing Pokuru in the final, the boys shared the scoring evenly, winning the game 10-4.

It was an enjoyable day for everyone playing the faster, modified version of the traditional style of

basketball. Thanks to Sabor Café for sponsoring the winners prize of “super shakes”, they were

definitely a piece of art!

TE AWAMUTU MINIBALL YEAR 5 & 6

FINALS

For the third term in a row the Ōhaupō Jets have made its way to the TA MiniBall finals. Due to injury, sickness and travel we were able to cobble a team together and just make the semis which the Jets just won by 4 points. Monday night’s hard fought game versus the TA Tigers was both intense and exhilarating. But thanks to some great defence and even better shooting the Jets prevailed by 6 points. Thank you to our Manager Whaea Dana, all the parents, support crew and a big thank you to our Platinum Sponsor, Waipa Alumini-um. Jets on 3. Coach.

ŌHAUPŌ SCHOOL AGRICULTURAL DAY

Ōhaupō School and our district has a rich history of Agricultural Days. Today it is still a great way to celebrate our

cultural heritage with all of our rural community.

We want to see as many children as possible have the option to participate in this event, including the floral art

sections. It provides fantastic opportunities for children to:

Be encouraged to be involved

Develop patience and determination

Overcome frustrations and seek remedies

Use initiative and self-reliance

Gain an understanding of animal welfare

Exhibit pride in their work

Display enthusiasm and enjoyment

As well as the competitive element of Ag Day and Group Day, it is a festive day for extended family and the whole

community to support our children and school.
