PARTNERS IN LEARNING PARENT SURVEY This term, our school will be participating in the Partners in Learning parent survey, another part of the Tell Them From Me suite of surveys (student, teacher and parent surveys) on student engagement. The survey asks parents and carers questions about different factors that are known to impact on student wellbeing and engagement.

Running this survey will help our school understand parents’ and carers’ perspectives on their child’s experience at school. These include: communication between parents/carers and staff, activities and practices at home and parent/carer views on the school's support of learning and behaviour. This valuable feedback will help our school make practical improvements. The survey is conducted entirely online on smartphones, ipads, tablets, laptops or computers. The survey will typically take 15 minutes or less to complete and is completely confidential.

The parent survey will be conducted between 21 August and 13 October. Although participating in the survey is entirely voluntary, your responses are very much appreciated.

More information about the survey is available at: http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au. To access the survey for our school go to: https://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/alma1

From the Principal…. Dear Parents and Caregivers, Book Week What a wonderful day we had last Wednesday for Book Week. It was great to see  so many  staff  and  students  dressed  as  their  favourite  characters.  The opportunity to come together and read was an outstanding success. I would like  to  thank  all  the  parents,  carers  and  grandparents  who  came  along  to make this such a success. Thank you also to Miss Marsh for her organisa on on the day.  Surveys At present, the staff at Alma are preparing our 2018‐2020 School Plan. This is an ongoing process that will be completed by the end of Term 1 2018, even though we are hoping to have our plan completed by the end of 2017. The ini al  steps  required  a  school  vision.  The  staff  met  and  came  up  with  21 words that they believed should be in our school vision. We have now  surveyed parents and students and asked them to choose 3 words from the list that could be used in our plan. We will go back to the staff with these  results  and  the  school  vision  will  be  completed.    The  school  vision  will  be published in the newsle er. As the year goes on, we will be asking for further input into our school plan from our parents/caregivers.  We value  this  input and  it will assist us  to have our 2018‐2020 School Plan ready for the beginning of next year. Choirs On Monday, I had the absolute pleasure of being in the audience at the  Broken Hill Eisteddfod. Both our choirs looked amazing and sounded  beau ful. Our senior choir were awarded first place in their sec on.  I would  like  to  congratulate  all  the  students  and Miss  Edgar, Mrs  Cowdrey and Mr Lardner on their efforts. Healthy Harold Visit Unfortunately, Health Harold was sick and unable to visit Alma at the  beginning of the week. Classes that missed out on their allocated  mes will visit Health Harold in Week 9 when he will return to Alma. School Photos Next Wednesday 30th August we will have our school photos. The photos can be booked on line or the envelopes bought into school next Wednesday.  Sibling orders can also be made online or some envelopes are available at the school’s office. If you want further informa on please don’t  hesitate to contact the school on 8088 2181.
