30 YEARS OF SERVICE
Our wonderful School Administrative Officer
Heather Andrew has delivered 30 years of
exceptional service to the Department of Education.
Mrs Andrew reached this milestone last week, and I
thank her for her many years of dedication to the
students and staff at Tullamore Central School in a
range of duties, including Learning and Support,
Laboratory Assistant and Administration.
Congratulations Mrs Andrew on a wonderful
achievement.
RELIEVING PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Another busy week is ahead of us with a special
event on each day of the week.
Yesterday Questacon visited for students 5-12.
Today Primary CWA Public Speaking took place at
Trundle, tomorrow is Year 3/4 assembly. Thursday
sees Opens Touch Football for secondary at Dubbo
and Friday Primary District Cross Country here at
Pola Park. Congratulations to all students involved
and I wish them all the best. I know they will be
great representatives of our school.
Uniform
Once again a reminder that students are expected to
be in correct uniform each day. All students K-12
are to wear our wide brim school hat, not caps. The
school hats are available at the office for $9.00. So
many students are looking fabulous in their uniform
and it would be great to see all students wearing it
proudly.
Coffee Machine.
Our newly plumbed and fitted
coffee machine is in action!
Mrs Fidock and Mrs Hinchley
have completed training and
now we can smell the sweet
aroma of coffee in the air. Our
Hospitality students and teachers will be developing
their Barista skills and plan to set up a Coffee Shop
in the near future. Mrs Hillam was a happy taste
tester yesterday morning, and gave Mrs Fidock a
thumbs up for delicious coffee.

SECONDARY NEWS
Another busy week for students in secondary.
This week sees students at representative sport,
science field work and SLR excursions. Students
have also participated in Questacon visits.
Uniform and Caps
Students are reminded that caps are not part of
uniform and should not be worn at school.
Tullamore Central School is a sun safe school and
the requirements are students wear the school
bucket hats. Students will be asked to remove caps
and put them in their bags. Now that the weather is
getting colder, please ensure that students have the
correct uniform jumpers. If students need new ones
they can be purchased from the front office. Please
see our staff for sizing.
VET Work placement Pre-Placement Paperwork
Year 11 Students who study VET subjects who
were issued with pre-placement paperwork who
have not returned it need to do so as soon as
possible. This is to ensure that you have a
placement ready for Term 3. Students who are
going on placement this term will receive
confirmation of your placement in the next few
weeks. If you have not already done so, ensure that
you have completed the go2workplacement
activities prior to placement in Week 6.
STEM – Questacon Workshops
Students from Years 5 – 12 participated in the
STEM roadshow activities with Questacon on
Monday. Some great examples of problem solving
and out of the box ideas to solve a problem.

YEARS 9/10 GRENFELL ART EXCURSION
Last Tuesday, the 9/10 Visual Arts students
travelled to Grenfell for the day, to explore the
town’s rich art culture.
Our first stop was to check out the Grenfell Silo Art,
commissioned by Melbourne street artist Heeso
Khosnaran in March this year. The artwork is an
adaption of photographs depicting the farming
industry and the Weddin Shire landscape, taken by
locally renowned photographer Denise Yates of
Five Hours West. The students were in awe of the
skill and techniques used to produce such a large-
scale artwork.
Our next stop was to Patina Gallery, where we
undertook an acrylic ink workshop with local artist
Kathleen McCue. Kathleen enrolled in a TAFE Fine
Art course when she turned 40, giving up the stress
of nursing in a small town with seldom a doctor.
She is now a full-time professional artist, proving
that you are never too old to change career or learn
something new! We enjoyed a tour around her
lovely personal art gallery, with the students
admiring her works in various art mediums and
forms. We then gathered in her art studio and the
students were given a lesson on layering paint to
give artworks more depth and interest. The students
enjoyed this very much and were delighted to be
able to bring back with them an artwork to be proud
of.
Our final stop was to Wallangreen Sculptural
Garden. We were lucky enough to be given a
personal tour around the garden by Jan Wallace and
her playful Collie companion. Jan’s late husband
Len, a Vietnam war veteran took solace in metal
sculpting from discarded metal waste, turning
various farming tools and machinery as well as
other things into spectacular, detailed sculptures.
Some of the highlights of the visit were Len’s
dinosaur sculpture, his amazing metal sculpture of
Ned Kelly, and his intricate Creation Clock.
We are so glad to have chosen Grenfell as our art
excursion destination. We were pleasantly surprised
by the art presence in the town, and happy to be
supporting another small community in drought
who has breathed life into it’s community through
its significant art and cultural projects. We highly
recommend a visit to Grenfell.
For anyone interested, Grenfell is holding its 62nd
Henry Lawson Festival over the June long weekend
from 6-10th June. It is one of the longest running
arts festivals in NSW. Both Patina Gallery and
Wallangreen will be open over this period. For more
information visit www.henrylawsonfestival.com.au
