This meeting is open to all parents, from Years 0 to Years 8, but especially our Year 4 parents as their children will be in Year 5 in 2016 and they are then eligible for our BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) programme. At the meeting we will outline our thinking and processes regarding the internet, internet safety and bring your own device (BYOD). Some of the issues discussed at the last year’s meeting will be raised again, and some of you who attended this session may wish to come again. All are welcome. Our school vision is to: Provide a platform which enables students to make their own limitless choices to excel in a continually changing world. Digital technologies plays a part in preparing your children for the future and making this vision a reality. This is your opportunity to be up with the play regarding Cyber Safety and how to support your child’s learning, what device to get and how to ensure that it is being used for learning. Questions parents should ask schools about Cyber Safety and BYOD: What does research say about the impact of e-learning on learning? What steps can I take to keep my child a safe cyber-citizen? How much screen time is too much screen time? What happens if my child does not bring a device? What are the Google Education Apps, and how do I use it to see what my children are doing? Do we need to back up his /her school work or is it all in the cloud? How will you keep that expensive equipment safe during the day, and how do they charge up? Do I really, really have to adhere to this huge list of specifications and type of device that you say I should buy? * Matt Allen, our school’s IT consultant will be coming along to the meeting to demonstrate our preferred BYOD device. ICAS Maths Exam 2015 17 students entered the ICAS Maths Test this year and I am pleased to report that students obtained 3 Credits, 2 Merits and 12 Participation Certificates. BYOD - IMPORTANT MEETING - “Is technology the future of learning and education?”

I would like to extend an invitation to all YEAR 4 PARENTS and caregivers and ask you to prioritise your attendance at a meeting on Wednesday, 11 November at 7:00pm in Room 7.
