Principal’s Message Swimming Scheme During Weeks 8 and 9, Year Two and Three students, and some Year 4 students will be attending the School Swimming Scheme at Berkeley Pool. This is an intensive learn to swim and water safety program. Students will be walking to Berkeley Pool each day with the first group leaving the school
at 10.15am.I would like to thank Ms Bonney for her organisation of this program. The program is free for all students.
Stage 3 Berry Sport and Recreation Camp Last week Stage 3 students attended Berry Sport and Recreation camp. I was really proud to see our students take on new and sometimes challenging activities with positive attitudes while also encouraging their peers. Many students found some hidden talents in archery while others managed to make it to the top of the rock climbing wall blindfolded! If your child attended camp they may have kept secret from you that they were also involved in kitchen duties. This included setting tables for 130 students and staff, serving food and washing dishes. I’m sure they would love to continue to do this at home with the same level of enthusiasm we saw at camp! Special mention goes out to the boys who stayed in the Watson dorm rooms who were organised and ready to go by 7:15am each morning. Well done! E-Safety Seminar On Monday night 3rd December, the Office of the eSafety Commissioner is holding a FREE parent information night about online safety focusing on children/students from 1-18 years of age.
Date: Monday 3rd December Time: 6:45pm-8:45pm Venue: Berkeley Community Centre (Rear entrance).
The online world is forever changing and the need to stay in front of the game as adults is becoming increasingly complex. Previous attendees of this information session have said it has been very informative. If you are available I would strongly encourage attendance. Please see the attached flyer for further information. Important Dates for Year 6 students The end of the year is fast approaching for our Year 6 students. Student of the Month – William Thew
William returned to our school a few years ago and in that time, the staff have watched him grow academically, socially and emotionally into a bright, polite, hilarious, friendly and helpful student.
William is incredibly polite and always stands at our classroom door, greeting the members of our class and politely letting them enter the room first.
He has a brilliant sense of humour. If he isn't telling us a corny joke to make us giggle, then William is trying really hard to brighten someone's day.
Academically, we have watched William go from hating even the thought of writing, to actually enjoying the task, creating amazing poetry when it's NOT writing time.
William is a friend to everyone, and everyone adores him. He is an integral part of our class and our school. Well done, William!
