Term 4 Week 8, 6 December, 2018
Principal’s Report – Richard Ford
Welcome to the last newsletter for 2018. It has been a very busy year but a very productive one at the same time. As
we come to the end of the year I would like to thank everybody who has contributed to the school and all the students
who have tried to be there best. With only six days to go we still have so much on.
We have a few teachers who are leaving us this year. Firstly, Miss Arnall has gained a transfer up to the north coast.
Miss Arnall has been at Crawford for about 8 years and has been dedicated to the students and the community. She
has been a wonderful teacher that the students love. Her leadership of the Crawibold has allowed our artistic students
to get a chance to shine. We also will be saying goodbye to Miss Ure who will be leaving us for a role as an Assistant
Principal Learning Assistance. She has a had a profound impact on our support unit making sure all students included
and supported. In her new role she will be looking after lots of schools and supporting their students with special
needs. We wish her all the best in the future she will be sorely missed. We are also losing Miss Williams who has an
gained a transfer to Heckenberg Public School. Miss Williams has been at Crawford for a number of years and she is
a very dedicated teacher. Her students love the work that she produces for them and they are highly engaged in
everything they do. Thank you to Mrs Benfield, our librarian, who has already left us and we hope Miss Benfield
enjoys her retirement. We also say goodbye to Miss Holloway who gained a permanent position at Schofields PS.
Although Miss Holloway has only been here for the year, she has had a big impact on the students at Crawford
Public School. Miss Bender will also be leaving at start of next year as she gained a permanent position at Mount
Druitt Public School. Miss Bender has been part of a number of committees at Crawford and she has always made
sure our students are trying their best. Thank you to Miss Diola who will be moving to Queensland. She did a great
job taking over 3P this year.
Along with losing some teachers, we have been lucky enough to get some wonderful teachers. Mrs Chandra, Mrs
Natt and Miss Hagedoorn have all been made permanent at the school. We also have a Miss Eather who has been
appointed for the start of next year.
Well what a big two weeks is has been. White Ribbon day was a huge success and the students really showed the
meaning of the day. Our school leaders were also very lucky to be the only primary school to be invited to the White
Ribbon Day breakfast at Blacktown Workers club. It was an eye opening experience for everyone there.
Congratulations to all the students who received Principal and Deputy Principal Awards in the last two
weeks.
Grandparents day was another huge day and I think the school needs to buy new chairs just to fit everyone
in. Thank you to everyone who was able to turn up. The students really appreciated it.
Kindy Orientation and Transition was another great success. I would like to thank all the teachers
involved in organising the wonderful programs for our new students.
Well done to all the students who got up and did their leadership speeches. It is a daunting time for some
people; however, our students did an amazing job. While not everyone can get a leadership position, it
doesn’t mean that our students can’t be a leader at the school, they can lead in a number of other ways.
Also on the Friday of the Leadership speeches we had the ‘Wear a mo to school day’. Although we didn’t
get as many students as we would like wearing a moustache we were still able to raise $185.
Thank you to all the parents who attended the sessions of the PATCH training. In the end we had 5 people
finish the course. These wonderful ladies have been helping in the classrooms day in and day out, making
sure our students are getting some extra support. We hope to have a new patch of parents do the course in
2019.
Currently the classes are being made for next year. At the moment we have a plan, however, we will not
know what the make up will be due to the numbers of students enrolling for next year.
Thank you for your patience with the issues of the back playground. I have had a meeting with the head of
assets in Western Sydney and Schools infrastructure NSW. There will be some works carried out
throughout the holidays to try and make sure that the problems we’ve been having won’t happen again.
Just a reminder that if you will be leaving Crawford public school next year please let us know for
planning purposes.

Keeping up with Kindergarten!
Where has this year gone? Can you believe our lovely little kindies are about to fly the
nest and journey to year one?
Over this year the teachers have seen amazing learning, dedication and excitement
occur in the classrooms on a daily basis and it has been amazing to see the
growth. From barely being able to write their names on the first day of school, to now
writing over a page . It’s just crazy!!
Check out some of these first day flashbacks in the photos below.
This week Kindy held their stage assembly and boot scooted all over the stage. They
loved sharing the stage with their friends.
Also we are celebrating our amazing year of success by having a party on Wednesday
12th of
December (After
the Christmas
Concert). We
would love
everyone to bring
in some party
food to share.
Thanks for joining
in on this year of
learning with us!
Have an amazing
Christmas and
we will see you all
in 2019.
Miss Allen, Ms
Bender, Mrs
Chandra and Ms
Dunn!
