gentle program ideal for people experiencing restriction of movement or recovering

Karra Watta Community Lunches* A free community lunch available to anyone in the community who may be feeling a little isolat-ed, is new to the area or would like to reconnect with old friends and make new connections by coming together to enjoy a hearty meal.

How to Write a Children’s Book * Join Amanda Graham, renowned Adelaide Hills children’s book author and illustrator and learn helpful ways to get started, develop your storyline and characters and how to write for your audi-ence. Amanda will also share practical insights about publishing and how to be a ruthless editor of your own work.

Threatened Species Children’s Art Competition and Exhibition An art competition to encourage children to explore their artistic creativity while learning about the many South Australian native plants and animals that are facing extinction. Hand-built Clay Homewares (3 session series)* Come and learn the art of hand building clay objects and utensils. A relaxing, tactile and fun series of three workshops will focus on a variety of hand building techniques and clay decoration. Learn how to make unique homewares: mugs, spoons, saucers, bowls, vases and candle holders, and decorate them using different tools and pigments.

Life Drawing and Lino Exhibition* View the beautiful work created by attendees to The Summit’s Life Drawing and Lino programs.

The Summit Book Swap Choose from a wonderful range of books curated through the Adelaide Hills Council Library ser-vice. Picture books, gardening, fiction, autobiographies and more. Borrow and return or swap with a book from home.

Poppies Project Can you knit, crochet….or sew? Perhaps you might like to learn how to? We have an important project that we’d love your help with. Local groups The Ring of Oaks Quilters, Pins ‘n’ Needles and the Spinners and Weavers have started knitting, crocheting and sewing poppies for a second spectacular wall hanging that will feature on the Gumeracha Town Hall. ….but we need your help!

Writing the Local: The Art of Crafting Unique Nature Poetry with Rachael Mead In this hands on workshop we will explore the diverse ways contemporary poets use location and environ-ment in their work, deepen your poetry, moving beyond describing what you see to more sensory intellec-tual and emotional responses to landscape and explore ways to write about connection to place and be-longing while honouring and acknowledging indigenous history and traditional ownership.

Shared Seasonal Table with Clever Belly Kitchen* In this hands on cooking class, Belinda will be showing you how easy it is to make a nutritious meal from scratch with locally grown/seasonal produce. The menu includes: spicy lentil soup, pasta made from scratch with rocket pesto, crunchy beetroot, pear and feta salad and stewed seasonal fruit with honey and yo-ghurt.

Virtual Reality - Job Simulator In a world where robots have replaced all human jobs, step into the "Job Simulator" to learn what it was like 'to job'. Use your hands to stack, manipulate, throw, and smash physics objects in an inexplicably satisfying way! This activity is suitable for anyone aged 8 and above.

Song Writing Workshop— Inside Someone Else’s Skin: Character, Voice and Perspective in Song with Adrienne Lovelock This interactive workshop will focus on how having a character with a distinct point of view as the narrator affects the way a song connects with the listener. Participants are invited to discuss the songs and give other examples, then “alternate versions” will be constructed. Suitable for adults and teenagers interested in song writing. No experience necessary. Ages 16+

Kimchi + Fermentation with Clever Belly Kitchen* In this hands on, fun and informative workshop Belinda will demonstrate and share secrets on how to create delicious kimchi and fermented vegetables and explain how to incorporate these gut nourishing foods into your diet. Virtual Reality - VR Museum of Fine Art Explore a virtual museum in room-scale VR: see famous sculptures in full, 1:1 scale and see famous paintings without the limitations of glass and security guards. Room scale VR lets you walk around, duck under, and even hug the life-sized figures. This activity is suitable for anyone aged 8 and above.

Kokedama Workshop* Kokedama means 'moss ball'. Join us and learn the art of creating your own, in a hands on workshop with all materials provided. Bring nature into your home with these gorgeous living decorations.

Peramangk Bush Tucker Campfire Storytelling* A night of learning about Bush Tucker throughout the Mount Lofty Ranges, on the land of the Peramangk and beyond. Hear and learn about bush foods and medicines, and the environmental Aboriginal LORE that ensured these foods were always available. Enjoy a taste of some food cooked in the hot coals and immerse yourself in cultural gifts of sharing knowledge.

Virtual Reality - Beat Saber Beat Saber is a rhythm game where you slash the beats of adrenaline-pumping music as they fly towards you. Enjoy tons of handcrafted levels and swing your way through the pulsing music beats, surrounded by a futuristic world. Warm up with Winter Words workshops in the Adelaide Hills!

We have a fabulous new program celebrating the literary arts - Winter Words in the Adelaide Hills. Winter Words is a series of writing based workshops from haiku, song writing and writing for children’s books to poetry that will reveal itself during the rain on a pavement near you.

Workshops have been designed for a range of ages (adults and young people) and will be hosted in warm and cosy venues to keep your creativity flowing this winter. There are also workshops for a range of skill levels from established and emerging writers to those who wish to explore and expand skills and interests. Raining Poetry and Poetry Workshops “Writing the Local” and “Less is More” are presented in partnership with the J M Coetzee Centre for Creative Practice – Adelaide University.
