STANDARDS: Conduct a training session IAW the evaluation sheet with a minimum passing score of a “GO” on all tasks within 45 minutes

COFT SAFETY BRIEFING

SAFETY:

• Tampering with equipment is prohibited and horseplay will not be tolerated

• CVC helmets must be worn in the Crew Station at all times

• No food, drinks, smoking or smokeless tobacco are allowed in the training area

• Use all required references during maintenance and training

• Do not walk on or move any cables, or touch any electrical connections

COFT SAFETY BRIEFING (Con’t)

• Know the location and function of the three emergency Shutdown Switches

• Know where the fire extinguishers are, how to use them, the location of the emergency exits and the Shelter Emergency Shutdown Switches

• Do not permit any activity in the COFT that is unsafe in the BFV

CREW CLASSIFICATION DEFINITIONS

• NEW - Newly formed crews in which the gunner, BC, or both have not previously

qualified on BT VIII in their current positions are classified as New Crews. New crews should initially begin training in the Special Purpose matrix to learn the critical skills required in the direct fire engagement process.

• TURBULENT - Newly formed crews in which both the gunner and BC have previously qualified on BT VIII in their current positions as part of another crew are

classified as turbulence crews. Turbulent crews should begin their training at the start of the Preliminary matrix in order for the gunner and BC to develop crew coordination skills.

• SUSTAINMENT - A crew that has previously qualified on BT VIII together is classified as a Sustainment crew. Sustainment crews should be allowed to continue training where they left off in the training matrices prior to departing for live-fire gunnery.

• Upon completion of each exercise, the instructor will provide the crew with a brief critique of their performance, using the

Situation Monitor.

• Upon completion of the training exercise the I/O will print and save to disk the Situation Monitor and Performance Analysis. The I/O will also print and save to disk the Session Summary

and Crew Record at the end of the training session.

• The last I/O for the platoon will print and save to disk the Unit Summary for the platoon. He will also forward a hard copy to

the Company Master Gunner. • The last I/O for the companies training session will print and

save to disk the Unit Summary for the company. This information will be forwarded to the Company Master Gunner.
