Common definitions of terrorism refer only to those violent acts that are intended to create fear (terror).
The word "terrorism" is politically loaded and emotionally charged, and this greatly compounds the difficulty of providing a precise definition.

According to the mainstream media, four passenger airlines were hijacked by 19 al-Qaeda terrorists so they could be flown right into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York City.
