    To Branches/Offices of

    State Bank of India

    STAFF: OFFICERS

WRITTEN TESTS FOR PROMOTION TO MMGS-II/MMGS-III

    TEST PATTERN

The pattern for written test for promotion to MMGS-II/MMGS-III was last revised in

the year 2003-04 at the time of introduction of fast track channel. To keep our

promotion tests aligned with the requirement of the changing banking scenario, it

has been decided to revise the pattern for written test for promotion to MMGS-

II/MMGS-III. The revised test patterns are given in Annexure-I & II respectively. The

said test pattern will be effective from promotion year 2012-13.

    2. Salient features of the revised test pattern are as under:

Negative marking for wrong answer to be introduced in objective type testto reduce guess work. Each objective type question will have 4 choices.

Data interpretation section has been added for promotion to MMGS-III asplanning and business development are desirable attributes.

Questions on Supervisory Role and Responsibilities have been added inobjective test for promotion to MMGS-III.

As per the extant promotion policy, minimum percentage of marks requiredin the written test to qualify for being considered for inclusion in the Zone of

Consideration is 40%. For promotion to Scale-III, descriptive paper will be

evaluated only if the score in objective type test is 40% or above. Again, in

descriptive type minimum qualifying score is 40%, to be eligible for inclusion

in ZOC. Merit list of officers in ZOC will be prepared on the basis of combined

score of objective and descriptive tests. As regards promotion to Scale-II,

since there is no descriptive paper, there is no change in the existing policy

of overall 40% in written test as qualifying marks for being considered for

inclusion in the Zone of Consideration.
