A pproximately 170 attendees joined
in this year’s Annual Convention and
Trade Show at the La Torretta Del Lago
Resort, Lake Conroe, Texas, June 10—
13, 2009. Members and guest enjoyed
the elegant suites and the spectacular
lake views.
The golfers started their day early Thurs-
day on the golf course at La Torretta.
Afternoon events included a Board meet-
ing and the formal Opening Reception of
the Trade Show featuring 20 Exhibitors.
Friday was a full day as members got
down to business with the Annual Con-
tractors meeting. TLPCA Past President
Tim Rogan (Houston Lath and Plaster)
presided at the Opening Session. Partici-
pants of the educational program took
advantage of a number of outstanding
presentations from speakers covering a
wide range of topics such as:

• “L.E.E.D. 2009—What it Means for
Wall & Ceiling Contractors” (Jim

The ladies were treated to a luncheon at
the Vintage Garden Tea House down-
town Montgomery.
Evening events began with attendees
bidding on some great items donated for
the Silent Auction, followed with a Re-
ception and Dinner. Awards were pre-
sented to the winners of the 2008-2009
Design Awards Competition and trophies
given to the First and Second Place win-
ners of the Golf Tournament.
A special “Lifetime Achievement
Award” was presented to Pam and
Jimmy Skipworth in recognition for
years of service and support as a contrac-
tor member, past TLPCA and Bureau
President.
New Officers for 2009—2010 were in-
troduced. Serving as President is Rick
Williams, Vice President—Roger Burke,
Secretary-Treasurer—Michael Vickery
and Immediate Past President—Tim Ro-
gan.
Excitement hardly describes the crowd as
Eddie McCormick was introduced as the
new Executive Director of TLPCA. He
received a standing ovation. Eddie said
he is excited about working with mem-
bers and moving the Association for-
ward. The evening ended with entertain-
ment and a dance.

Entries were submitted for any Plaster, Stucco, EIFS,
Veneer Stone or Drywall/Acoustical Project completed
between December 2007 and January 2009, and submit-
ted by a TLPCA Member in good standing to be eligible
for the awards competition. The submittals were from
contractor or associate members, however, the awards
were presented to the contractors and the architect/
designers.
In the competition, each project was judged on creativity
and uniqueness of design.
The “Pinnacle Award” was presented to the project
judged to be the “best of the best” and this year was pre-
sented to the project for Commercial — Exterior Stucco/
EIFS and Veneer Stone.
Awards were presented to both the winning Architect and
the Plastering Contractor at the Annual Convention’s Fri-
day dinner and Awards Banquet. Photos of the winning
projects are placed on the Association Web Site at
www.tlpca.org. The 2009 winning projects are:
The Pinnacle Award was presented to Diversified
Plastering of Houston for the Vintage Park project.

The Vintage Park project also took the award in the
Commercial/ Exterior EIFS category and Commer-
cial/ Exterior Stucco.
Silver Star Plastering, Inc., was the winner in the
Commercial/Veneer Stone category for the Stonebriar
Community Church project in Frisco, Texas.
