What: My Story, My Story When: Friday 15th February Where: Sports Complex Who: Prep – Year 6 students Everyone has a story worth telling Jesse’s family has always loved singing, dancing and telling stories. When a talent scout visits their remote Indigenous community and picks Jesse out from the rest, it seems like the opportunity of a lifetime. But being away from home is not easy, and city life is not quite what Jesse expected. It is only when Jesse meets Sam, they both learn that everyone’s story is important. Covering themes of friendship, family, acceptance, storytelling and courage, My Story, Your Story will take students on a journey from remote Indigenous communities to the big city.

Chappy Chatter with Chappy Jason
I though I should start the year by re-introducing myself for all those new to our school. My name is Jason
Skinner (Chappy Jason) and I am the School Chaplain. For those who don’t know me yet here is the vital
information you need to know. I am married to Kylie with three children, two at school, Gabrielle (Yr. 11 at
Warwick High) and Erina (Yr.9 at Warwick High), and Cody at QUT in Brisbane. I have lived in Warwick for more than 35
years and I love the farming life, currently having too many horses on my farm. Previously my employment over the last 20
years has been in the Pig production industry, specialising in Genetics and herd management. I have studied my Diploma in
Youth Work and have been involved in working with young people through many different avenues over the last 20+ years.
This has included Sunday school, Youth groups, youth camps, Boys’ Brigade and many other community youth events. I
moved into School Chaplaincy in January 2013, so I am now 6 years in and loving it. I currently work at Warwick West SS
(Thurs & Fri), Inglewood P-10 SS (Tue) and Texas P-10 SS (Wed). I am very passionate about working with young people,
getting alongside then, helping them deal with life’s issues and seeing them becoming all that they can be, no matter what
background they come from. If you would like to talk to me about School Chaplaincy, my role, how I can help you or
anything else, just catch me at school, call the office to arrange a time to see me or email [email protected]. I am looking
forward to another fantastic and exciting year.
Primary News
PAGE 3 TUESDAY TELEGRAPH WEEK THREE TERM ONE
Year One are really excited about starting school in B Block and are enjoying the renovated classrooms. The class have started all their units of work. In English we are exploring how stories work and emotions that characters express. Our focus in Maths at the moment is 2 digit numbers. The class are great at counting and
identifying numbers. In HASS we are exploring the question: How has my family and daily life changed over time? The class have shown a great deal of interest in their Science unit about external features and habitats of living things. Thank you to the parents who are assisting their
children with their homework by listening to
them read and helping them learn their
spelling.
Secondary News Konichiwa!
This term we welcomed the Grade Five Students to the world of all
things Japanese! This is grade fives first time learning Japanese
for LOTE at our school and they are doing an amazing job.
All students in Year seven are settling in well and are expanding their knowledge and learning Hiragana
(Hiragana is a Japanese syllabary, one component of the Japanese writing
system). Students have practiced writing and speaking in Japanese.
Year Eight have moved on from Hiragana and are now also learning
Katakana (Katakana is a Japanese syllabary, one component of the Japa-
nese writing system along with hiragana and kanji). Students are now able
to read some signs and wording that they would see if visiting Japan.
