EdReDirectThe Educational Resource Directory and Self-Annotated WebliographyRevised: Todd V. Titterud, 09/17/2010

#ABCDEFGHIJKLM NOPQRSTUVWXYZEducational Links and Resources for Accreditation, Assessment, Research, Planning, and Development The purpose of this directory is to present useful resources for educators (faculty, administration, and staff) in ACCJC accredited community colleges. Due to overlapping interests, theories, practices, and concerns, it also includes resources from/for other regions (within and outside of the United States) and levels of education (K12 to graduate schools). You can lose hours, days, weeks, or more exploring the thousands of relevant education links you can find by searching Google and following the resource links on college websites. The links in this directory were collected while exploring links from the websites of ACCJC accredited colleges and by searching the web for resources to support the research, planning and assessment activities of college faculty, administrators and staff under the ACCJC standards of accreditation. All of the links were active during the first half of 2010 when they were consolidated into this alphabetical directory and annotated with self-descriptions from the sites. The inclusion of for-profit companies and advocacy groups (theory, method, and/or policy) in this directory does not indicate a recommendation of their services or perspectives. Usually they are included because other sites have linked to their posted informational content. These for-profit and non-profit groups are often a rich source of information on the theories and practices of their founder(s). Whenever possible, I have tried to avoid deep-linking directly to articles posted on these sites. Instead, I usually listed the host organization or website and added links to one or more of their directories or indexes of resource and/or publications. With time, many of these for-profit and advocacy organizations will be dissolved, absorbed, or abandoned. They may only last for the lifetime of their inspirational founders or of their acolytes. Before assuming a resource once posted by one of these organizations is lost, you can try checking the Way Back Machine of the Internet Archives for an archived version of their website.

Just as the socioeconomic dynamics of the academy in our society spawns numerous companies, centers and other groups based on the work of a particular academic guru or entrepreneur, it also gives birth to numerous college centers, projects, and movements founded on transient grants from foundations and government agencies. Often the funded activities cease when the initial grants expire, but their material outcomes may remain online for future reference. Thus I have also included links to the archived resources and publications of now defunct college centers, programs, and other initiatives. Some of these resources may remain available indefinitely, but others may disappear at anytime with some future redesign of the host website or may be archived in a new location. The directory also includes links to websites and pages posted by individual practitioners. The potential transience of personal websites is very high and the lifespan of faculty pages on institutional sites is also indefinite. Finally, the number of personal and institutional blogs has exploded in the last few years due to the free hosting services (even replacing many web and email based newsletters). Many colleges now create blogs and wikis as part of an accreditation self-study or institutional response process. Many of these are created as part of a kick-off effort but are not adopted by the intended users nor maintained by their creators. Generally, links to blogs or wikis in this directory have only been included if they have current postings and have remained consistently active for a few years. Compound words with an internal capital letter between the parts are alphabetized as if the name was two words and hyphenated words are alphabetized as if the dash was a space between letters (e.g., eLumen, FedStats and Ed-Data are alphabetized as e Lumen, Fed Stats and Ed Data). The self-annotations for the websites are included in quotes but may have been edited for style consistency and clarity. All hyperlinks, bullets, superscripts, indents, hard returns and font variations (including bold and italics) have been removed from the descriptions to create a consistent presentation. While each sentence in a self-annotation was copied verbatim from the websites, they may include statements from more than one page or paragraph, their sentence order may have been changed, and they may not contain all of the statements in a sites self-description. Any additions to a self-annotation are included within square brackets. For those sites that do not include usable self-descriptions for creating a selfannotation a very short description was written by the collator. Use the pages or bookmarks tabs on the left and the alpha links below to move directly to a section of the directory. Use the Find box or search function to find a specific resource or do a keyword search. Todd V. Titterud The Follow-Up Report

21st Century Scholar is the newest undertaking by the Center for Higher Education Policy Analysis (CHEPA) at the University of Southern California Rossier School of Education to contribute to the conversation about the pressing issues facing education. CHEPA began 15 years ago, and we have focused on three broad issues how to increase access to college for low-income youth; how to improve academic governance and decision-making; and what the implications of globalization are for education. Our intent here is to broaden the dialogue about educational issues in a provocative and timely manner. 101 Web 2.0 Teaching Tools, OEDb Online Education Databasehttp://oedb.org/library/features/101-web-20-teaching-tools

Online tools and resources have made it easier for teachers to instruct students, and for students to collaborate with those teachers and with other students and parents. These "Web 2.0" teaching tools aren't magical, but they may seem to defy definition at times since they save time, help you to stay organized, and often take up little space on a computer. Some of these applications are Web-based, which means that they can be accessed from any computer. The following list is filled with tools that will make a teacher's life easier. The categories are listed in alphabetical order and the links to each tool are also listed alphabetically within those categories.

The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) is responsible for the Accreditation of post-MD medical training programs within the United States. Accreditation is accomplished through a peer review process and is based upon established standards and guidelines. The mission of the ACGME is to improve health care by assessing and advancing the quality of resident physicians education through exemplary accreditation. The Action Research Network is a tool designed for teachers in the field as well as students pursuing a degree in education. This tool enables researchers (the teachers) to share their research and view the findings of others. This is done by providing an online template that the researchers fill in to help them record information about various aspects of their research. Thus a researcher can describe all aspects of his or her action research project, take notes and keep them all in one place, upload their research instruments and data, make a first draft of their final paper and bibliography (if doing this for a class), and share this information with others of their choice (e.g., the public, their professor, outside reviewers, someone at their school). Those who are interested in the research done by others will be able to search using grade level, student achievement, type of research, type of intervention, subject matter, etc. as search terms. This makes it easy for a teacher or professor to locate projects that are of particular interest or which illustrate a particular aspect of teaching. Any educator in any country may use the Action Research Network tool. There is no cost involved either to professors or to the teachers/students who choose to use it. Action Science Network, Enhanced Designshttp://www.actionscience.com/

The Action Science Network aims to accurately describe and efficiently demonstrate the theory and practice of action science and, secondarily, to connect individuals and groups interested in working with action science. The action science strategy of organizational development was defined and vigorously advanced primarily by Dr. Chris Argyris (with important help from Donald Schon and others) over a period of more than 50 years. Action Science is a strategy for increasing the skills and confidence of individuals in groups to create any kind of organization and to foster long-term individual and group effectiveness. In the field of Organizational Development, action science is also known as action inquiry, action research, or organizational learning. Adult education is a tricky thing. And still others might be thinking of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) or of Community Based Education (CBE). Anyhow, I think you get the picture--adult education is a lot of different things to different people.
