Quarterly Newsletter of The Gathering Place, Brattleboro, VT August – October 2013

This fall we will be having many fun events all during the month of September. TGP has a team walking to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association on Saturday September 7th. The walk begins at The Brattleboro Retreat and walkers walk through town and down to the Brattleboro Co-op and then return to The Retreat. If you are interested in this event, please contact Amy Maguire at 246-1515 or email her at [email protected]. On Sunday September 8th, we will be holding our very first GRANDPARENTS BREAKFAST! We will be opening our doors at 7 am and serving pancakes, bacon and sausage and offering a variety of hot and cold beverages. We will also have a quilt up for raffle and arts and crafts for the kids! For more information, please call Shawna Bah at 246-1517 or email her at [email protected]

Also in September, we will be participating in the Health Festival on Saturday September 21st, located on the grounds of the Brattleboro Retreat. Staff will be there to answer questions and we will have brochures and a surprise raffle! There will be performances by local groups.

Smell what’s cooking; News from the Kitchen!

FitzVogt, a food service company that started in 1977

in Brattleboro VT, began to provide TGP its meals

and snacks on July first. FitzVogt provides food

services to places such as schools and summer camps,

assisted living facilities, long term care facilities and

correctional facilities. They base their menus on what

the needs of their customers are, with old fashioned

home cooked meals that are full of flavor! Many of

the food suppliers come from local farms and include

organic whole wheat grains. Every month TGP

provides a menu of all of our meals and snacks which

are located at our receptionist’s desk as you walk

through the front door. Participants have been

enjoying the new food (as well as the wonderful

smells coming from the kitchen!) From one of our

participant’s, “I just love the new menu, all the food

is so good!”
