sciences can participate in the competition by sending the registration form along with Demand draft drawn in favor of “Karpagam University” payable at

thCoimbatore to the Organizing secretary on or before 16 February 2017. Spot registration may also be permitted on prior request. Registration fee includes lunch and Refreshments.

To our credit, the outcome of the 12 research findings were patented and a confidential disclosure agreement with Nuray Chemicals, Pvt Ltd, Chennai was signed.

� Recently our department conducted a lecture

workshop funded by IASc, INSA, NASI and a

national seminar on diabetes funded by DST-SERB.

ABOUT THE COMPETITION

Bioinnovation - 2017 – An initiative laid by the

Department of Biochemistry and Bioinformatics to

kindle the knowledge of young minds and to enhance

their understanding of life sciences. This platform is

especially for undergraduate students to explore and

showcase their talents in a competitive platform.

Students are invited to explore their talents and in depth

research interest through paper and poster presentations

and scientific quiz programme covering all aspects of

life sciences.

THEME FOR ORAL / POSTER PRESENTATION� Theme is related to all specific areas of LIFE SCIENCES.

G U I D E L I N E S F O R O R A L / P O S T E R PRESENTATION

For ora l presenta t ion, a power point

presentation is required. The time allotted for oral

presentation is 10 minutes; 7 minutes for presentation

and 3 minutes for discussion.

The size of the poster should preferably be

120cm x 80 cm.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENTThe Department of Biochemistry has established

in the year 1995. The aim of our department is to promote quality and value based education by motivating the practical skills, updated knowledge and creativity of students and create progressive research environment to meet the demands of the society. Our department has published more than 200 research articles in both National and International Journals and received 6 grants from various funding agencies like UGC, ICMR, DST, DBT, INSA and Ministry of Forest and Environment. The thrust area of research includes Microbial Enzymes, Cancer biology, Diabetes, Medicinal plants, Neurobiology, bone biology and Computational biology.
