79th National Association of Free Will Baptists

The Word of God

It is no accident that in Part II of the Treatise, under the heading “The Faith of Free Will Baptists,” Chapter 1 is titled, “The Holy Scriptures.” Why? Because our denomination has always understood that unless we get it right on this point, all our doctrinal beliefs are in jeopardy.

The very first item listed in our Articles of Faith states, “The Bible—The Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments were given by inspiration of God, and are our infallible rule of faith and practice.” This statement gives a clear, succinct explanation of where we stand when it comes to the Word of God:

• It is INCLUSIVE. We believe the entire Bible, both the Old and New Testaments.

• It is INSPIRED. We believe the Scriptures are God-breathed.

• It is INFALLIBLE. We believe it is without error.

• It is INSTRUCTIVE. We believe it teaches us what to believe and how to behave.

Our day is characterized by the words of Judges 21:25b, “…every man did that which was right in his own eyes.” Our nation has lost its moral compass. Now, more than ever, we need the sure and steady direction that can only be found in the Word of God.

It is my prayer that the Word of God will be more than just a theme for this year’s convention. May it not only be the focus of our attention this week, but the very heart and core of everything we think, say and do in the future.

HAZARDOUS MATERIALS+ Notify a convention official immediately.+ Stay clear of affected area. Assume the substance is a health hazard.

CIVIL DISTURBANCE+ Avoid confrontation and notify the convention management as

quickly as possible.

WALKING ALONE – ANYONE CAN BE A VICTIM+ Remember, there is safety in numbers.

The 79th national convention is hosted for the fifth time by Michi-gan Free Will Baptists. The DeVos Place will house activities for the National Association (NAFWB) and National Youth Conference (NYC).

Registration

Convention registration is located in the Grand Gallery of the DeVos Place. A name badge is required to attend all convention events. Persons with voting privileges will need a name badge and delegate ribbon to participate in convention business.

The following registration schedule will be observed from Saturday, July 18, through Wednesday, July 22.

Convention Information

Convention information tables can be found in the lobby of the Am-way Grand Plaza Hotel Saturday and Sunday, July 18-19. An information table will be staffed at the DeVos Place throughout the meeting.

During convention sessions, ushers will assist convention guests by taking messages to the convention office, locating individuals, and giving directions. The Free Will Baptist convention office is located in the DeVos Place Grand Gallery F.

Exhibits are housed in Hall A of the DeVos Place.

Exhibit Hall Hours:

Monday 3:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Tuesday 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. Wednesday 10:00 a.m. – 30 minutes after the

evening service

The exhibit hall will close each evening from 6:30-8:30 during convention worship services.
