Intro: Reset our context in the chronology of Revelation
6:1 Began 7 Seal Judgments … 1st half (3 1/2 yrs) of Daniel’s 70th Week … 7 year period
8: 1 Open 7th Seal Judgment … began the 7 Trumpet Judgments … reaching midpoint of that 7 years
8:13 Warning of three “Woes” … the 5th—7th Trumpet Judgments
10:1 2nd major time out or “Pause” … just prior to 7th Trumpet sounding
Center Stage: The Land of Israel … two brutal dictators
I. A 3rd Jewish Temple Divides the Period vs. 1-2
v. 1 John handed a “measuring reed” …
Daniel 9:27 “He will make a firm covenant with the many for one week [7 years], but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and offering [abomination of desolation].”
Matthew 24:15 “So when you see the abomination that causes desolation, spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand)… “
2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 “...the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son o destruction….so that he sits in God’s sanctuary, publicizing that he himself is God.”
v. 2 John told to “exclude” … to pay no attention; leave out, throw out … What?

II. Two Witnesses begin their Testimony vs. 3-7
v. 3 “my two witnesses” …
“they will prophesy” ...
“for 1,260 days” “dressed in sackcloth”

III. The Beast Conquers the Witnesses” vs. 7-10
v. 7 “the beast” … 1st reference in Revelation
Well known to John cr. Daniel 9; 2 Thessalonians 2:9-10a; his 1st Epistle; Rev 13:1
“comes up out of the abyss”
v. 8 “Their dead bodies will lie” … ultimate indignity, disrespect
“great city” … “prophetically called”…
v. 9 “representatives”
v. 10 “those who live on the earth” ... earth dwellers … no revulsion but celebration
IV. However, God Overrules the Beast vs. 11-14
v. 11 “breath of life from God” …
v. 12 “hear a loud voice from heaven” … “Come up here”
v. 13 “at that moment” … “a violent earthquake”

v. 14 “Take note” …
LIFE LESSONS
1. We are empowered to be witnesses as well.
2. God transforms tragedies into triumphs in His time.
3. The testimony we write today becomes our legacy tomorrow.
