• No dialogue at the beginning, just sound effects• Focuses the audience's attention on the characters on
the screen and intrigues the audience as to what the characters' significance
• Music is calm and peaceful, allows the audience to be engulfed into the advert and the ambience created
through the audience
SOUND AND MISE EN SCENE
• Tells the story of a man and his inferred day-to-
day life• The product being advertised hasn't been
mentioned and isn't present as of yet,
meaning the audience only focus on the
characters on the screen and the narrative
unfolding.
NARRATIVE
• The overlaying effect within the advert being a murky slightly dusty filter can simultaneously reflect the
environment within Thailand, which complies to Barthes' Referential Code being that the media text relates to knowledge that is widely known, here being the case
where the country's people are living in poverty.
EFFECTS
SOUND
• Synchronous sound effects are the only things that are heard
as well as the music• The narrator's voice then comes in asking the rhetorical question of "what does he get
in return for doing this everyday?". This is a direct address to the audience and allows the audience to think about their own actions and
what they do in their own lives as well as answering the
question that the narrator has asked.
• These plays a vital role to the narrative of the story due to
allowing the audience to use the different settings and props to
interpret what is happening within the narrative. For example, the street setting with the woman
and her trolley allows the audience to differentiate between
the different plots that accord with the different people, such as the street setting with the mother
and her daughter asking for money for the daughter's
education.• Having a strong narrative within a

• Extremely emotional play is used within the
unveiling of the narrative plot of the mother and
the daughter whereby it shows her going to
school. This visual along with the sudden change
in music being saddening
