SUNSET MASTER PLAN PROCESS - OPEN HOUSE | JULY 2015

Thank you for coming to the second Sunset Master Plan Open House!

Why are we creating a master plan?

Staff from the Vancouver Park Board and PWL Partnership (the consultant firm developing the master plan) are happy to answer any questions you may have today.

Questions?

1 WELCOME

Sunset Park today

We presented four master plan scenarios last November and used feedback and comments to refine the master plan to better represent your ideas. Today, we’re presenting a revised master plan.

The Vancouver Park Board is developing a master plan to renew Sunset Park by improving and better connecting its features. Renewing the park was a top priority we heard about during the public consultation for the City of Vancouver 2015-2018 Capital Plan. The master plan will review the usage and condition of existing park features and identify short and long-term park improvements.

SUNSET MASTER PLAN PROCESS - OPEN HOUSE | JULY 2015

Incorporate sustainability strategies and goals identified in the Park Board Strategic Plan as well as best management practices

Identify, promote, and enhance connections to greenways

Create inclusive, accessible features that respond to park user needs

Address continued operational requirements of adjacent Sunset Nursery and Park Board Operations Yard

Be adaptable to changing user needs; a phased park development

Create safe, highly visible pedestrian routes that connect park components

Enhance connections between current and future park facilities and features

Develop programs that reflect community identity

Drawing on public input and comments from the November open house, we adopted these design principles to guide the master planning process.
