If this is your first time at the Rotary Club of Chanhassen 4th of July Parade, here are a few tips:
Where is the best spot to watch the Parade?
There are not any real bad spots. It all depends on what
you are looking for!
1. If you like the experience of being in the middle of the
action, pick a spot along West 78th Street or Kerber
Blvd.
2. If you want to hear the announcer explain a little bit
about each Parade entry, find a spot near the judges’
stand on Kerber.
3. If you like a little quieter scene, find a spot of park land
or school grounds along Santa Vera through Laredo
drive
4. If you want to be near food and drink, find a spot any-
where near City Center Park (north of the library) for
the Taste of Chanhassen. They are serving between
10-4 on July 4th. The carnival is there, too.
5. If you want a shady spot along the parade route, get
up early and mark out a spot with chairs or blankets.
We know that some people reserve their turf the night
before the parade and even lock their chairs to a tree.
We don’t sanction any of these ideas officially, so use
your own good judgment.
6. If you like to see bands perform their routines,
the judges’ stand on Kerber Blvd. is a good spot.
7. Kids can get sidewalk chalk at 1:30 throughout
the route. Handed out free by the Rotary Club of
Chanhassen. Be sure to share!
Where do I park?
There are no official Parade parking lots. So the
best spot is going to either be near the place
where you watch the Parade or where you can
leave quickly.
Please observe all traffic barriers, no parking signs
and the instructions of any Parade marshals, city
staff or county sheriffs.
Know that if you park inside the Parade route, you
may need to wait until officials open the streets
before you are able to leave the area after the
Parade.
That said, here are a few popular options:
1. The Southwest Transit Parking Ramp adja-
cent to Chanhassen Dinner Theatres is a
great choice on the southeast end of the Pa-
rade route.
2. Most local shopping centers allow public Pa-
rade parking. Just watch for signs that tell you
otherwise. Businesses have the right to re-
serve parking for their customers.
3. Neighborhood streets in walking distance that
are not marked “no parking.”
4. Find a taxi, a ride service or a friend to drop
you off! Skip the parking routine entirely!
Streets close on a staged
basis starting at noon. The
Parade route is fully closed
to traffic starting at 1:30pm.
The Parade starts at
2:30pm.
Thank you for celebrating independence day with your friends and family here in Chanhassen!
