We have had an amazing start to the school year! The students are settled, rou-
tines are being learned and lots of learning and fun are evident in the class-
rooms. THANK you to all the students and staff for a wonderful opening Mass
that we celebrated a few weeks ago. Thank you to the Grade Five students and
teachers and for everyone who helped out. Thank you to all the parents and
grandparents for joining us for our celebrations, your presence is greatly appre-
ciated. We are preparing for our THANKSGIVING Celebration which will be
on Friday Oct 10 at 9:30 am, led by our Grade 6A and 8A students. We are
asking families to donate Food Bank items for our local Food Bank. Thank
you in advance for your donations, it will be put to good use by needy families
in our community.
This time of year is a great time to give thanks to God for everything he has
given to us. I am thankful for my family, friends, my job, the students, staff
and parents at our great school. Take a few moments each day to reflect and
be thankful, it is a heart warming activity, share with your family what you are
thankful for.
In Christ,
Caroline Richards

Article #2 October 2014
The Potential within Us
We are made no less than in the
image and likeness of God! Genesis
1:26-27. Within us is the potential
for us to achieve, with God’s grace,
all that God has dreamed for us.
Our God is a God of hope and pos-
sibilities.
The key element for us in discover-
ing what this potential might be is
to take this time to actually sit and
be with God and to listen to what
God has to say. We call this time
‘prayer’ and in this time of ‘ prayer’
we listen and offer up our thoughts
and ideas of what would be both
exciting and challenging for us to
pursue in life, both for ourselves
and for others. What are you pas-
sionate about? What kinds of things
bring you joy and happiness? What
do you hear God offering and an-
swering for you?
As we celebrate Thanksgiving this
month, may we be very thankful
that our gracious and loving creator
gave us the freedom to choose and
follow whatever dream we decide.
Let us pray that we not settle for
just any old, minimum sized dream
but rather let us shoot for a God
sized dream. And may our dream,
as the motto of St. Ignatius of Loy-
ola, founder of the Jesuit religious
order states, be one that allows us to
“go forth and set the world on fire!”

S C H O O L C O U N C I L N E W S The new year is upon us and your school council is in full swing. We had our annual AGM with the fol-
lowing results, Stacey Twerdochlib and Carrie Pangracs will continue to co-chair, Erin O’Connell was
elected to Vice-president, Pam Foley was elected as treasurer, Danielle Schmidt stayed on as secretary
and lastly Erin O'Connell stayed on as our Fundraiser coordinator.
Our fundraiser went home last week and there are some good treats in there.
With our fundraiser efforts this year we are looking into a few new things to help improve our school.
One of these would be updating our playgrounds. If you have any ideas and would like to share them we
welcome the input.
Thank you to all our new faces and welcome many more to our meetings; they are held the third Tuesday
of every month with the next one October 21 @6:45 PM. CHILDCARE will be provided.
ALL PARENTS are welcome to attend.
Sincerely,
Stacey and Carrie

SCHOOL COMMUNITY TEAM
We are pleased to have the services of the School
Community Team. What is team? The team is
an inter-agency group that meets in each school
about once a month to help parents and students
who are in need of support from child centered
helping agencies. What services does
team offer? The team offers an opportunity for
parents to come into the school and be a part of a
case conference for parents and school staff.
Why attend team? If you or someone you know
is having a hard time with family relationships,
school problems like attendance or motivation, or
parenting problems then the Team is willing to
help. They can offer advice, suggestions, good
listening and referral information on a wide vari-
ety of topics.
How do I get the help? Phone the school and
ask the Principal or the Classroom Support
Teacher to book a time.
The service is free and confidential.
