Chamber Establishes College Scholarship

On March 3th the Evergreen Chamber once again partnered with Leadership Evergreen to honor some exceptional people in our community. We had over 150 people attend the event at the Evergreen Elks Lodge. It was an wonderful evening where we celebrated people who contribute individually and as a group to make our society stronger, better, more successful. We congratulate the following on a job well done and honors well deserved:

One of the most amazing things that happened at the event was the we established the first ever, Evergreen Chamber College Scholarship Fund for graduating seniors moving on to college to study business. The scholarship will be administered by Bootstraps. We passed water pitchers around for attendees to contribute whatever cash they wanted to go towards the scholarship. The Chamber committed in advance to a 100% match. $1600 was collected in the pitchers. Adding the Chamber match of $1600 the total was then $3200. Bootstraps offered to match the total at 25% or $800 which made the total fund pile $4000!!! It was much bigger than expected, we at the Chamber are humbled by the generosity of the folks in the room. Now we need to decide how many scholarships that will equal!

Members In The News Old Evergreen Crafters Building is Getting a Makeover

The building that has housed many Evergreen businesses over the 116 years it has been in existence, is being partly demolished and planned to be restored to look like it did in the 1930’s.

Despite being built in 1900, this building that held our own Evergreen Crafters from 1948 to 2008 is not listed as a landmark by the Jefferson County

Historical Commission. The demolition process was supposed to be limited to tearing down two walls, but the extensive damage caused over the years required the roof to be replaced also.

The 11th Mountain Area Home & Garden Show will take place on Saturday April 30th and Sunday May 1st at the Evergreen High

School. Last year over 2,200 people attended the show and over 110 vendors exhibited. Booths are still available for those wishing to exhibit –

the show was sold out last year; it's a great opportunity for local companies to display their products and services to our mountain

Mountain Parks Veterinary Hospital’s Pet Food Drive Nets 3,200 Pounds of Food For EChO’s Food Bank

Evergreen Christian Outreach is known for its food bank that helps residents during lean times, but they also keep our furry friends fed, thanks to an annual dog-food drive by Mountain Parks Veterinary Hospital. This year’s drive netted 3,200 pounds of pet food, with MPV and Royal Canin food supplier matching the monetary donations. The drive only accepted monetary donations, so that they could purchase one variety of food to supply their canine recipients with a consistent diet. We’re so proud to see these two members working together to help our community pets!

9th Annual Egg Decorating Contest Benefits Downtown Evergreen Association

Go Paint! is the ceramics studio in downtown Evergreen where you can paint your own ceramic egg for the contest that benefits the Downtown Evergreen Association.

There are three categories: Professional, Adult Amateur and Kids. The Professional eggs are auctioned off through a silent auction and the other two groups get to take their eggs home after the display and awards go

out. There will be a finale party hosted by Main Street Fine Art Gallery on April 21 with live music by Johnny Turner, along with food and drinks.

Jefferson County Assessor, Ron Sandstrom Speaks at Evergreen Fire Rescue Auditorium

We knew you had questions about your property taxes, so we brought Jefferson County Assessor, Ron Sandstrom to Evergreen on Monday, March 7. We thank everyone who attended. It was an informative morning. We have copies of the presentation in our office if you need one.
