As the apple harvest wraps up, cartons are down 10-15 million cartons over last year. Most of the fruit is peaking on 113ct and larger. Expect smaller fruit to be priced higher this year over last, with less volume.
Supplies are DEMAND EXCEED due to a strike in Mexico that has curtailed harvest. Supplies are being depleted in the US and will take time to replenish once harvest resumes. Most shippers have enacted Act of God clauses and contracts and pricing will be effected. Get Fresh has a strong grower base and is doing everything necessary to insulate our customers from any disruption in supply. This is an industry wide problem.
Green bells are finished in Fresno and out of the Coastal California growing areas. Growers are currently harvesting in Coachella with limited supplies. Red and Yellow supplies have tightened up as Fresno finishes and supplies transition to Coachella. Limited supplies are available from Baja. Markets are active and higher. Quality remains good
Market continues to be a little snug as the colder nights have slowed the growing process in the Salinas Valley and Santa Maria areas. Quality is fair with slight purpling, some mechanical damage, and occasional yellow cast. Look for supplies to continue to remain a bit snug.
Blackberries Product continues to be limited as domestic production winds down. The rain and cold weather in Mexico are expected to delay product and decrease the harvest by 20%. Due to the weather, there will be a higher probability of quality issues such as bruising, softness, and bleeding.
Raspberries Steady supplies and good quality continue, and we do not foresee and disruption as we continue to transition from domestic to Mexican fruit.
Strawberry Weather continues to be an issue in all growing regions. The rain that hit California and Mexico, has now been followed by warmer weather, which is causing the plants to produce small, lighter berries with additional bruising. We can expect this to be a trend until the weather cools down.
Blueberry Supplies are expected to improve by the end of the week, due to more product coming in from South America. The weather in Mexico has delayed production, and could cause supply concerns down the line.
Cauliflower
Market has picked up as supplieshave become a bit snug. Overall, the quality has been good with minor bruising and some yellow cast with weights in the 25 to 28-pound level. Look for this market to continue to be strong going into next week.

Leaf Lettuce & Iceberg100% California Product
Potatoes
Tomatoes
Quality and supplies are good on all potatoes out of all growing areas.
California has finished on gas greens. Vine ripes out of Mexico are crossing thru Baja and Nogales. Supplies are short on smaller sizes. Quality is good. Supplies on romas are also short due to cooler weather in the growing area. Grapes and cherry supplies are Also limited with better supply on cherries. Quality Is fair to good. rain. Markets are active and Quality remains good.
Iceberg Lettuce: This market is a bit softer to start the week. Some shippers have flexed in pricing while others have stayed firm. Demand is moderate. Some quality issues that have come up upon arrivals include some puffiness, light weights, and mechanical. The reports have been minimal, however. Weights on palletized have been ranging from 36-42 pounds. Expect some early lettuce in Yuma the first week to the second week inNovember.
Leaf Lettuce: This market is firm on romaine. Quality issues include twisting, fringe burn and mechanical. Weights are averaging 30-34 pounds. Green leaf is softer compared to past weeks. Butter supplies will be on the moderate to light side all week. Romaine hearts will be light in availability again this week as supplies have not caught up to demand. The quality on all leaf items has been fair, overall

Citrus
Lemons: Quality has much improved over the last few weeks. Supplies are steady with the majority of the fruit sizing in the 165 count, 200 count and 235 count. The bigger sizes such as 140 count and larger are still struggling to increase in supplies. We are seeing steady markets both out of Oxnard and Coachella.
Oranges: With the California Valencia season finished we are seeing good supplies on California Navel as the season ramps up. Quality has definitely improved with the new crop. We will see better sugar levels as we get a further into the Navel season. Supplies are excellent.
Green Onions
Market is extremely tight due to weather in Mexico and labor issues. Recent heat followed with rain has been causing some occasional browning streaks and some mechanical damage.
Information is subject to daily weather and market fluctuations and is meant to be used as a guide.
Alert!
Squash
Mexico is the dominate player in Squash as Santa Maria and Fresno area finish for the season. Quality is outstanding and prices are steady.
MelonsThe west side will be finished after this week. The Arizona season is off to a slow start after heavy rains the past few weeks we are seeing the effects of the rain on the fruit. Melons will be low sugar and brown scar. Limited volume on Cantaloupes and Honeydew from Mexico and will start to see offshore fruit in about 4 weeks from now.
