System-Level Belief Statements

School districts have the ability to “advantage” each and every child

School districts should do “whatever it takes” to advantage each and every child

The quality of children’s education must be the focus of all school district decisions

Student Achievement Findings We have strong curricula

in the areas of mathematics, science, and social studies.

Our Language Arts and Foreign Language curricula need to be strengthened.

Our average performance is below the state average in reading and mathematics.

Student Achievement Findings An achievement gap

exists between students based upon socio-economic status and race.

We do not have reliable data to monitor students’ reading and mathematics achievement.

Teachers cannot easily access students’ performance data

Community Engagement Findings The school district does

not have structures in place to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

Greater emphasis should be placed on proactively engaging parents and understanding their concerns.

Parents and the community have had little input in programming changes.
