FROM KEN’S PEN

“You Have Been My God Through All Of It”

by Reed & Glover

1. There are days I've taken more than I can give, And there are choices that I made

That I wouldn't make again. I've had my share of laughter, of tears and troubled times

This is has been the story of my life - Chorus

2.. You were there when it all came down on me. When I was blinded by my fear

And I struggled to believe. But in those unclear moments

You were the one keeping me strong .This is how my story's always gone - Chorus

3. And this is who You are. More constant than the stars up in the sky

All these years of our lives, I look back and I see You

Right now I still do and I'm always going to -- Chorus

Chorus -- I have won and I have lost. I got it right sometimes

But sometimes I did not. Life's been a journey

I've seen joy, I've seen regret

Oh and You have been my God through all of it

When I heard this it really summed up my life and I know it does for so many people. God has

been there all along. I did not always know it, want it, feel it, believe it, welcome it. But He is al-

ways near. I can look back now and see how He has led me to things and through them. It hasn't

always been easy. Many times I thought I should take a different road. But now I realize that to-

day hinges on all the past things of my life. The roads that I have taken have all led me here.

I wouldn't miss today for all the yesterdays. I believe God has it right....we only get one chance in

life. There are no do-overs, retakes, no second chances. We are here our one and only time.

God has the plan, paid the price, offers it freely to all who will obey and remain faithful to Him. No

matter how many mistakes, how big they are or what was involved...we have the chance to get it

right. Do not be deceived, there is only one way. It's God's way. Read John 14:6. Only through

Christ can we find salvation. Not through any other organization, preacher, school, or anything

else! Follow Christ & all His teachings written for us in The Bible, thoroughly, and those times you

got it wrong will not matter anymore. Live each day for Him, He is always near. He is always

waiting. He is our God through all of it and we will all answer to Him. He is just waiting on us to

see who we will follow, the world or Him. Continue to pray for each other as so many need en-

couragement and time to make things right with God. He always has been and will always be our

God.

HOW WILL YOU BE REMEMBERED?

In my daily Bible reading this morning, I was reading in 2 Chronicles 21, and a verse struck me as if it were the first time I had ever seen it. I know I have read it many times before, because I have read through the Bible for more than 25 consecutive years, and have read in Chronicles a number of other times. However, for some reason this verse stood out today.

Jehoram, son of Jehoshaphat, a descendant of David and king of Judah, was a wicked man. When he became king, he killed his brothers and other “princes” in Judah to secure his position on the throne. He was the son-in-law of Ahab and Jezebel, so he worshiped Baal rather than the LORD. Because of his wickedness, the LORD stirred up the Phil-istines and Edomites to rebel against him, and also sent a terrible disease to afflict him for two years until he finally died from it (see 2 Chronicles 21:1–20 and 2 Kings 8:16–24). The verse that “hit home” to me was 2 Chronicles 21:20, “He was thirty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem. And he departed with no

one’s regret. They buried him in the city of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.”

When I read that, it made me think how sad it would be to die with no one’s regret! I have officiated at funerals where there were not very many in attendance, but it was usually because the person had out-lived friends and other family members. Even then, there were some who indicated that the person would be missed, and had made a positive impact on the lives of people who had known them well.

The lesson to learn from this text is that we should live in such a way that when we depart from this life, there will be at least some who will regret our passing. Besides our family members and closest loved ones, may we live so that even casual acquaintances will regret our departure. Leave a positive influence by your words, your kindness, your gentleness, your joy, and your Christ-like humility. In other words, demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit in your life, and oth-ers will regret it when that influence is no longer around!

There will be no “Summer Series” lesson this Wednesday, July 1. Instead, we will have a congrega-tional singing. There will be no classes. The summer series will resume Wednesday the 8th. David Riley from Vilonia will be the speaker.

Humorous Church Stories

Adam’s Rib

In Sunday School, they were teaching how God created everything, including human beings. Little Jimmy seemed especially intent when they told him how Eve was created out of one of Adam's ribs. Later in the week, his mother noticed him lying down as though he were ill and said, ‘Jimmy what is the matter?’ He responded, ‘I have a pain in my side. I think I'm going to have a wife.'

Two Little Boys

A couple had two little boys, ages 8 and 10, who were excessively mischievous. The two were always getting into trouble and their parents could be assured that if any mischief occurred in their town their two young sons were in some way involved. The parents were at their wits end as to what to do about their sons' behavior. The mother had heard that a clergyman in town had been success-ful in disciplining children in the past, so she asked her husband if he thought they should send the boys to speak with the clergyman. The husband said, 'We might as well. We need to do something before I really lose my temper!' The clergyman agreed to speak with the boys, but asked to see them individually. The 8 year old went to meet with him first. The clergyman sat the boy down and asked him sternly, 'Where is God?' The boy made no response, so the clergyman repeated the question in an even sterner tone, 'Where is God?' Again the boy made no attempt to answer. So the clergyman raised his voice even more and shook his finger in the boy's face, 'WHERE IS GOD?' At that the boy bolted from the room and ran directly home, slamming himself in the closet. His older brother followed him into the closet and asked what had happened. The younger brother replied, 'We are in BIG trouble this time. God is missing and they think we did it.'

Acts 2:38 An elderly woman had just returned to her home from an evening of religious service when she was startled by an intruder. As she caught the man in the act of robbing her home of its valuables, she yelled, 'Stop -Acts 2:38!' (..turn from your sin...). The burglar stopped dead in his tracks. The woman calmly called the police and explained what she had done. As the officer cuffed the man to take him in, he asked the burglar, 'Why did you just stand there? All she did was yell a scripture to you.' 'Scripture?' replied the bur-glar, 'She said she had an AXE and two 38's!'
