Steve Wolff, EVP and COO of CAUSwave, Inc, former EVP Engineering for Evergreen Energy, and AHC Group Senior Associate will chair “Delivering on the Bottom Line,” which he has led since 2007. The goal of this workshop is to present key messages by top operating officers to the themes of site remediation, risk reduction, emerging issues, and shareholder value, as well as sharing lessons regarding profit and loss.

In his former position, as President of Power Production at DP&L in Dayton, Ohio, Mr. Wolff provided leadership for over 4400 MW of electricity generation and all corporate information technology, purchasing, and environmental compliance areas.

Mr. Wolff is a veteran of the U.S. Navy and holds the following degrees: MS Environmental Management and Policy from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, MSE Engineering Management from The Catholic University of America, MA National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College, and a BSME Mechanical Engineering from the US Naval Academy at Annapolis.

Mr. Strassner is an honors graduate (Magna cum Laude) of Yale College (1968) and of Yale Law School (1974). Prior to joining Kimberly-Clark in 1976, Mr. Strassner served as an officer in the U. S. Navy, practiced with a Washington, D.C. law firm and served as Executive Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health. David is currently Vice President, Environmental Affairs for International Paper. Before coming to IP, David worked as Commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, and as the Environmental Secretary for the state of Florida.

Reducing regulatory burdens while delivering superior environmental results has been a hallmark of David Struhs’ career. His success in finding innovative solutions to pressing problems has been recognized by state and federal government agencies, a variety of industry sectors, the Pioneer Institute, environmental advocacy organizations, Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and the Ford Foundation.

Mr. Struhs holds degrees from Indiana and Harvard universities and was a Fulbright Fellow at the University of Nairobi. Wendy is the Director of Environmental Policy at Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) in San Francisco. Among her other duties, Ms. Pulling leads PG&E’s programs in Climate Protection, Habitat and Species Protection, Environmental Justice, ClimateSmart, and the Richard A. Clarke Environmental Leadership Award — PG&E’s annual award to recognize and encourage environmental leadership in its employees.

Prior to joining PG&E, Ms. Pulling worked as an Assistant Regional Counsel for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and as a staff attorney at the Natural Resources Defense Council. Ms. Pulling has a degree in history from Princeton University and a law degree from Stanford.

John manages GE’s legacy site remediation program within the Corporate Environmental Program and oversees a team of scientists and engineers responsible for the investigation and remediation at a portfolio of over 400 sites as well as providing support to GE business units. John has 25 years experience in the management of waste site investigation and remediation. Prior to joining GE, he was the Director of the Rocky Flats program for the Colorado Department of Health and also worked for the U.S. EPA in the Superfund and RCRA programs. John is a geological engineer by training.

Ms. Pavlovsky is a Partner in Deloitte’s Houston office and leads Deloitte’s Enterprise Sustainability practices nationally. She focuses on environmental and sustainability risk management where she conducts risk and exposure assessments, cost-benefit analyses and advises on strategy development and management system implementation.

Recently, she has been heavily involved in assessing environmental controls in conjunction with Sarbanes-Oxley readiness requirements, analyzing contingent environmental liabilities and disclosures for financial reporting and due diligence purposes, and assessing Environmental, Health & Safety and Sustainability frameworks for the purpose of identifying performance and efficiency improvement opportunities.

Michael Murphy, Senior Manager of Worldwide Environmental Affairs,

Dell

Michael is responsible for leading standardization and governance of environmental and regulatory compliance, increasing Dell’s environmental leadership across its entire product portfolio. Michael is also one of the primary authors of Dell’s annual sustainability report, regularly assists customers with their questions about the company’s environmental programs and is playing a key role in Dell becoming the ‘greenest’ technology company on the planet.

He has been with the company for nine years and has held positions in program management, engineering, operations, regulatory compliance, and environmental affairs.

Prior to joining Dell, Michael served in the United States Army as an officer in the Corps of Engineers and Army Acquisition Corps, where he led a variety of combat engineering and contracting organizations, as well as serving as the director of contracting for the Texas Army National Guard. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point, is a certified Contracting Officer, and holds a Graduate Certification in Sustainable Business from Bainbridge Graduate Institute.

Robert Tierney, Manager, Business Development/Strategic Planning at UTC

Bob has worked for UTC since 1979, starting at Pratt &Whitney then moving to UTC Power in 2006. He has held avariety of positions in manufacturing, engineering andbusiness development, each with a focus on the environment.In his current role, Bob is responsible for developing marketsfor clean, on-site power solutions using large stationary fuelcells.

Russell Urban-Mead, Director , Corporate Sustainability at The Chazen Companies

Russell Urban-Mead, CPG, LEED® AP is the senior water resource expert and corporate sustainability leader at The Chazen Companies. Mr. Urban-Mead directs water supply and water resource planning initiatives for private and municipal clients, with a focus on balanced water resource protection and allocation planning. Critical assignments have included watershed-scale management plans, aquifer recharge rate and sustainable withdrawal assessments, high-capacity water supply development projects in fractured bedrock and unconsolidated aquifers and remediation assignments.

Mr. Urban-Mead also manages sustainable design programming between engineering, ecological, and planning services at the Chazen Companies. Russell Urban-Mead received his Bachelors from Carleton College (Geology) and Masters of Science Degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (Hydrogeology) and has more than 20 years consulting experience.

John Mogge, Senior Vice President Business Development & Planning Director, Environmental Services,

CH2M HILL Dr. Mogge is a principal program manager who also serves as CH2M HILL’s Environmental ServicesDirector of Business Development and Planning, leading a global sales force of 200 professionals withannual revenues of over $600M. Previously he held the role of Southeast Regional Business GroupManager for CH2M HILL’s Transportation and Development Business Unit.

From 1974 to 1992, Dr. Mogge held a series of diverse environmental services, design, construction andkey managerial positions in the U.S. Air Force (USAF), followed by various senior and executive-levelUSAF positions through 2000.

John has a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, a M.S., Architecture from the University of Florida and a B.A., Architecture, from the University of Florida. John is a Registered Architect in Florida and a Registered Environmental Manager.

Dr. Mogge’s doctoral work was driven by his belief that the industries of the built environment must transform and become orders of magnitude more resource efficient. His dissertation examined the economics of sustainable planning, design, and construction.

A systems ecologist and business strategist with nearly 40 years experience in business, communications, and environmental innovation, Friend combines broad business experience with unique content experience spanning strategy, systems ecology, economic development, management cybernetics, and public policy. Tomorrow magazine called him “One of the country’s leading environmental management consultants—a real expert who combines theoretical sophistication with hands-on, in-the-trenches know-how.”

He is a founding board member of the Sustainable Business Alliance, Sustainable Berkeley, and the California Sustainable Business Council and serves on the executive board of OpenEco.org and the advisory boards of CleanFish, WattBot, Green World Campaign. Gil was also cofounder and codirector of the Institute for Local Self-Reliance, a leading urban ecology and economic development “think-and-do tank,” where he pioneered the current “green roof ” trend more than 35 years ago.

Friend lectures widely on business strategy and sustainability issues and writes The New Bottom Line, offering strategic perspectives on business and environment. He has contributed chapters to several books, including Worldchanging: A User’s Guide to the 21st Century, Sustainable Enterprise Report, Sustainable Enterprise Fieldbook, Sustainable Food Systems, and Stepping Stones, and is the author of the recently released book: The Truth About Green Business.

He holds an M.S. degree in systems ecology from Antioch University, has a black belt in Aikido, and is a seasoned practitioner of “The Natural Step” environmental management system.

Mark has successfully collaborated with companies in the automotive, chemical, paper, energy, oil and gas, mining, and utility sectors to help them realize the economic benefits of managing environmental issues from a business perspective. In addition, he provides subject-matter and domain expertise to help environmental consultants, law firms, real estate and insurance firms deliver successful projects to their clients. His work involves projects that drive environmental strategy into core business philosophy, including policy, strategy, economics modeling and metrics development; process optimization, management systems and governance model development including architecture and strategy mapping information systems / business analytics dashboards; to management of change implementation, cultural skills development and leadership coaching. He personally facilitates industry workshops on environmental performance leadership, including a recent event on key performance indicators / metrics, and a summit on remediation excellence.

Mark A. Serwinowski is Founder and President of metavû which helps companies develop and deploy the organizational capabilities required to manage environmental risk and corporate social responsibility (CSR) throughout the business value chain.

Mr. Serwinowski has practiced in the environmental business for seventeen years. He has held management and equity positions at leading service providers in the remedial construction, engineering and scientific consulting, and management consulting industries. He has successfully developed and launched two consulting practices in business advisory for environmental management and risk. In addition, he holds an advisory board position in a Brownfields real estate redevelopment firm.

Rusty Carroll began his career with LP Building Products in 1993 upon graduation from Sam Houston State University. Mr. Carroll’s primary responsibility at LP is to lead the corporate marketing efforts for thecorporation. Recently he successively led the development and implementation of the business strategy for LP TechShield Radiant Barrier which has experienced significant growth in the last three years. It was through this effort that the company began to see the growth potential sustainability had if incorporated into its business and corporate strategies. He is currently assisting the company in the development of a holistic brandstrategy, quality of product, quality of service, safety and sustainability being the foundation.

Mr. Carroll also serves as the Chairman of LP’s Green Growth Council and is the Vice-President of the LP Foundation. Prior to his current position, Mr. Carroll lead the business marketing efforts of the Oriented Strand Board (OSB) business, LP's largest business. He has also served as the OSB Sales Manager for LP Canada in Montreal, Quebec, and was the Assistant OSB Sales Manager for LP’s Southern region located in Conroe, TX. Mr. Carroll has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Sam Houston State University. Mr. Carroll is married to Mrs. Deedra Carroll; they live in Nashville, TN, and have two young sons, Cameron and Carson.

Her expertise on marketing channels and segmentation shaped the approach and design of that new focus at Xcel. Another area of focus is the employment of social media tools to serve as a supplemental marketing channel.

Her professional experience spans several industries including financial services, retail grocery, office supplies, and sports management. Jen has always strived to find creative solutions to business problems by unifying multiple business units and optimizing teamwork for a common goal. Those solutions have included the development of proprietary statistics and measurement tools, implementing operational reform, and managing change through paradigm shifts. One of her proudest accomplishments was the design, creation, and execution of the first-ever strategic plan for United States Figure Skating.

On the weekends, you can find her engaged in some creative writing, taking a voice lesson or training for a marathon relay. In the summer, you might find her climbing one of the many mountains in Colorado, and if it is winter you might find her skiing down one.

Jennifer Wozniak is responsible for the Business Intelligence function in Marketing and Customer Strategy at Xcel Energy. She leads a cross-functional team focused on developing renewable product strategies for the short, medium, and long term. Jen is also focused on designing customer-focused strategies to maximize satisfaction and shareholder value.

Mr. Sama has 30 years of experience in environmental management for state and local government . He has also worked in education and private consulting. His undergraduate degree is in biology from Hofstra University, his graduate work was at the Polytechnic University of NY in water supply and wastewater engineering and he completed post-graduate work at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government on strategic management of regulatory and enforcement agencies.

He is currently Director of Environmental Permits and Pollution Prevention for DEC, Chairman of the New York State Pollution Prevention and Compliance Assistance Council and serves on the Board of Directors for the Northeast Waste Management Officials Association (NEWMOA). Jeff is also currently chairing a nationwide task force on greening state government.
