The theme of this year’s CES China Conference, hosted on June 8-10 by Southwestern University of Finance and Economics in Chengdu, was “The Chinese Financial System in Transition: Reforms, Policies, and Practices.” Conference features included keynote speakers, forums, and invited talks. Whereas speeches were held during the first two days, the final day was reserved for sightseeing and continuing education opportunities. CES allowed non-members as well as those within its ranks to attend 2013’s conference. Featured speakers included Dr. Justin Lin of Peking University, Harvard University’s Professor Richard Freeman, and Professor James Mirrlees of Cambridge University. Additionally, the event recognized the work of two junior scholars in the form of the Gregory Chow Best Paper Award.
