Yateley Offshore Sailing Club is a r e c o g n i s e d R Y A t r a i n i n g centre offering shorebased RYA D a y S k i p p e r , C o a s t a l Skipper/Yachtmaster Offshore theory courses and RYA First Aid courses.
The Day Skipper theory course content includes basic seamanship, an introduction to chart work, navigation, collision regulations, and meteorology—i n v a l u a b l e f o r t h o s e i n t e n d i n g t o skipper a yacht in coastal waters.
The Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster theory courses Involve a minimum of 40 hours of tuition including advanced navigation, pilotage and meteorology for skippers wishing to advance their theoretical knowledge in readiness to undertake longer sea passages.
The theory courses are a prerequisite for those wanting to take RYA Day Skipper , Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Offshore practical assessments.
The First aid course is intended for all who have an interest in safety aboard. The course will provide a working knowledge and aid ability to take the appropriate action in medical emergency situations, especially in remote locations.
The course also fulfils the requirements for skippers of small craft operating within 60 miles of a safe haven. The course is MCA and HSE approved. All of these in-house courses are run for the benefit of club members.

Club Facilities
Foundation of the Club
The Yateley Offshore Sailing Club was founded in September 1991 by a group of past members of RYA shorebased evening classes whose mutual interest was sailing with the principal objective to promote and facilitate the sport of sailing and recreational boating.
Sailing and Social
We run sailing rallies & events in the summer season and social events through the year. About once a m o n t h w e a r e entertained and informed by a guest speaker on topics of general interest to our Members including some marine related topics. We welcome both boat owners and non-boat owners who wish to enjoy the benefits of sailing in company.
Monthly Newsletters
The Club Newsletter is published by our Editor on the first of each month and distributed to all members optionally by post or email. There is an introductory article by the Commodore with the latest Club news and Members are invited to send illustrated articles on their sailing exploits or anything of interest. The Newsletter also has current updates to the sailing and social programmes.
