GENERAL INFORMATION ELIGIBILITY All participants must be at least 50 years of age on or before December 31, 2009. There is no upper age limit. Proof of age may be required at event check-in. Certain sports are allowing age 40 this year on a demonstration basis: Handball, Paddleball, Pickleball, and Racquetball. The San Diego Senior Olympic Games is open to all California residents and non-residents. This will be a qualifying event for the California State Senior Games Championships. AGE DIVISIONS Age divisions for all events are in five-year age groups except where noted: 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, etc. A participant’s competition age will be based on their age as of December 31, 2009, unless a particular sport’s rules define age as of the date of competition. The age division for all doubles and team competition will be determined by the age of the youngest team player as of 12/31/2009. The right is reserved by the San Diego Senior Sports Festival (SDSSF) to combine age groups in any event due to insufficient entries or other conditions. HOW TO ENTER You may enter any sport or event subject to the entry limitations of that sport. Mail your completed entry form and check/money order by Monday, August 31, 2009. A late fee will apply after August 31, 2009 after which registration may be closed. Each partner in a doubles competition must submit an individual Entry Form and also write in the full name of their partner on the Entry Form. TEAM REGISTRATION For Basketball, Soccer, Softball and Volleyball only, the Team Waiver & Roster Form needs to be submitted for registration, unless players on the team want to compete in other sports; in which case an individual form must be submitted. Prior to competition, all Team Athletes MUST SIGN the team waiver form, or that player will not be eligible to participate. FEES There are 3 types of fees: Registration, Event and Team Fees. A $30 Registration Fee for each individual participant covers the administrative costs of the Games. Event Fees for specific activities cover the actual cost of the particular sport. Team Fees include both the Registration and Event Fees. All athletes will receive a T-Shirt, Athlete Gift Bag & Results Book. ENTERING MORE THAN ONE SPORT Those entering more than one sport must be aware of possible schedule conflicts. No competition will be delayed to accommodate a conflict. Athletes who are participating in a team sport (on a team) must pay individual event fees if they enter an individual event. No refunds will be given due to event conflicts, and no schedule changes will be made to accommodate multi-sport entrants. REGISTRATION DEADLINE The registration deadline is Monday August 31, 2009 (postmarked). Team entries from Team Captains also are due by this date. Entries postmarked after the 8/31/2009 deadline may be accepted if space is available and there is adequate processing time. If an entry is postmarked after 8/31/09 and accepted, an additional $10 late fee will be charged for all individual sport entries, and a $15 late fee will be charged for all team registrations. Registrations will not be processed until all fees are paid and the liability waiver is signed and dated. No registrations or entries will be accepted on the day of events and /or games. MEDALS Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded in all events at each sport’s venue after the final competition. Any medals not picked at these times will be available at the Games Headquarters after the Games. EQUIPMENT Participants are required to provide their own equipment for the events entered, (except as specified under the sport description). Please be sure to mark your personal items and do not leave valuables unattended. SDSSF is not responsible for the loss of damage of any athlete’s personal equipment.
