•  AninterplayofgeologicalandbiologicalprocesseshasbeenresponsibleformaintainingEarth’shabitabilityoversuchalonginterval,despiteasubstan/alchangeinthebrightnessofthesun.

•  Thecourseofbiologicalevolu/onhasbeenaffectedbytheinterplayofgeologicalandbiologicalforces.–  Ifwecould“replaythetapeoflife”,itisveryunlikelythatwewouldreproducethesamehistoryoflifeonEarth.
